... of why "The Danny Mac Show" is Chicago's #1 sports talk morning show.

I turned on 670 this morning to hear D. McNeil's scoop about the Beloved's next move following the Bobby DePaul firing. He said (citing the Tribune's Brad Biggs as a source) the next hire will likely be Tim Ruskell.

An hour later, the Tribune website had story about T. Ruskell, authored by none other than - B. Biggs: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/02/ruskell-shapes-up-as-good-fit-for-bears.html

D. McNeil also had a tasty tidbit about the possibility of the departure of the team's Head Trainer, Tim Bream. T. Bream is a buddy of Ted Phillips but not liked by Lovie Staff and his smith because he was a "spy".

Upon the show's first commercial break, I turned the dial to "Silvy and Waddle" on ESPN 1000. They were also talking about the Beloved - except that the information and conversation sucked.

While D. McNeil was putting his neck out and telling Chicago who was likely to be the next fire and / or hire, M. Silverman was asking for a petition and even suggested starting a fund for a billboard asking for HBO's "Hard Knocks" cameras to be allowed into training camp at Bourbonnais so we "can see the inner workings" of the local football squad.... Great stuff there, M. Silverman.

It's pretty obvious that D. McNeil spent his Valentine's Day weekend working the phones and getting the listeners the scoop --- meanwhile M. Silverman was too busy sexing-up his girlfriend.

Keep up the good work, D. McNeil!

Linda S.

ProFootballTalk.com is also impressed with D. McNeil: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/16/report-gabriel-bream-could-be-next-to-go-in-chicago/

This was very impressive. Sounded like Biggsy gave Mac some great stuff and maybe some things Biggs could not write if he wanted to continue to get access.

Was that segment before or after the riveting 15 minute debate concerning Cap'n Crunch cereal?

Matt Spiegel apparently likes to eat dry cereal.

Dan McNeil was concerned that dry Cap'n Crunch would scrape the roof of one's mouth.

I did not wait to see if a common consensus was reached.

Behind the scenes stuff you would only hear about on a cold day in February and does this really affect the Bears on Sundays?

Maybe this firing has something to do with some of these guys having ties to media guys in this town who are always quick to say "one of my sources inside the Bears is telling me " ...... Many said this guy was a rat and tipped some people off on things who knows.

I got to agree; Mac's show has gotten pretty solid over the past few months. At the end of summer I was all but done with it; but wanted to see if Mac would get "in the zone" come football season.

And not only did he get set with football; but I actually have become a bit interested in hockey due to the Blackhawks love on this show.

Even Spiegs has grown on me.

Today was solid radio. I certainly appreciated the effort the two of them put into the show today.
