I'm starting to become worn out with the texts Spiegs has to read on the 8's every hour. Do we really need to know the musings of a Johnny Fontane or a Peoria Matt every 8 minutes? Find some other folks with a thought or become clever and have a thought of your own. It's bad enough we have meatballers calling in but I don't need the thoughts from the same guys every 8 minutes.

Hey now! Peoria Matt is a respected member of the CSFMB!

Things you can count on when listening to the Score:

daily, sometimes multiple texts from Peoria Matt.
Jim from Evergreen Park calling every show in the same day...with the same argument.
City of Fools calling in with some basketball thought that only Bernstein understands.
calls from Gary from Evanston and 10' Midget shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

I think that Peoria Matt and Johnny Fontane have decent texts for the most part. I text quite often as well, but most of mine aren't "air worthy".

In all the years I've been listening to talk radio, only one of my texts has ever been read on the air.

Wind Sock, I wish I could help you out. I will probably be texting often on a daily basis. I really enjoy the Danny Mac show and they spray to all fields, which leaves much to be commented on textually.

I don't even know what my fix means, just thought it sounded funny in my odd and bizarre sense of humor.

Never got a text of mine read on air, but I did get a response from Bernstein once...

PM- roll over and ask Spiegs if he is going to have Jim Callis on as a regular for the Danny Mac show or Hit and Run? Thanks

No offense Matt as your one of the good guys on the board. I 've been listening to sports radio a long time in this town and the hosts often have their buddies or their over the top listeners give us their thoughts or musings for years and it becomes tiresome at times as Bernstien can't go an hour without a thought from "Scmootzie" or a 'Who you Crappin" from the same 10 guys every week and Mac did the same back in his day with the calls from some of his star callers who really just called to either hear themselves on the radio or to try and show the world how smart they were and it turned me off .

I always had the felling that guys who send in 20 faxes, emails, calls, texts to a show either need their name on the radio or need the hosts acknowledge that "Hey, Peoria Matt has a thought" ..STOP the presses !!!.

Kind of like the guys who post 20 to 30 times day here. You know the small dick complex.

I see what you did there. Nicely played.

I'm not sure if it's that I want or need to hear my name on the radio, it's just that if I have a thought that I think is mildly amusing or would add something to the conversation, I fire away.

My job affords me about 6 hours a day of just me and the radio and the Score is a huge part of making my amazingly monotonous job a hell of a lot better. Because when it was Hamp and Holmes and Murph, it sucked..... and this current lineup is awesome.

Before the marriage and kids, there weren't too many games on TV that I missed. Now with a three and six year old, the days of plopping my ass down on the couch for a nightly dose of NBA, MLB, NFL or NHL are over, so the Score is sort of my way of keeping up on the sports side of things.

I get it Matt

My job entails staring at prices on a computer screen and waiting for the phone to ring (which is very sporadic). Thats why i post here so much.

That and I crave attention. :D

Mac does more name dropping of folks from this board than anyone who calls or texts the show. Between Doug, BF, Slappy and Grid and Vandy you'd think they were in studio with Chantix boy. :P

Windsock, I agree with you on some of the so called "star" callers...one of the worst guys is Myron in his cubicle. He says absolutely nothing!

Schmutzie used to post on this board, but hasn't been on since about 3 years ago, according to this. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=13093&p=168554#p168554
We were probably too "low brow" for him, which is why 10 foot Midget probably turned down a request from me to come on here.

It's actually just a bit of laziness on either the producers or on Speigs. Instead of reading the actual texts; they're skimming for names they know and more often than not, the first time anyone is reading that text is when it goes over the air. If you listen, more often than not Mac and/or Speigs are surprised by the content.

If it was read prior; the reaction of "Oh, WOW; that's a good point!" or "Um, not sure where you were going with that text; but thanks for sending it in!" wouldn't be the normal response to them.

Given Mac's self-admitted ignorance when it comes to technology; I have to put it on the producers or Speigs. (Although Matt sounded like a moron today getting on Ozzie not making sense on his tweets. Come on Speigs, we know you're a Cubs apologist; but Ozzie's tweets aren't worse than most of the professional athlete tweets you see regularly.)

10 foot midget was too high brow? LOL The guy looked like a cross between a leprechaun, an ewok and Terrel Suggs in a suit he borrowed from Sylvio.

And I think it is great that WINDSOCK is kinda sick of something. lol
