I love this idea!
however, Ryan...you do realize that we have to email them everyday. be the solution and stuff...

The "Mac guilty e-mail" thread got me to thinking about something I find missing when I listen to shows on 670 (which is all I listen to now, besides Fox Sports National stuff). Back in the heyday of MJH, I thought one of there better 10 minutes of the show would be the e-mailed thoughts they read every 70-80 minutes or so. To me, e-mails work better than calls because you can truly screen them. They are far more creative, thoughtful, and entertaining than some dude from the 630 texting "sopel is slopel" while he's driving between two lanes. The texting thoughts are boring and add virtually nothing. Doug astutely pointed out that texts have taken over e-mails on Mac's show and I believe a return to the more e-mail heavy, less texts would serve the show as a whole better. The e-mails they would read brought up more discussion and arguments between the hosts and seemed to serve for more material for the show down the road. I think its a small portion of the show that would elevate it a bit. This is not a complaint nor even really a suggestion, but more an observation from one of the few people on this board (i don't even deserve to be referred as someone from the board anymore) that does enjoy Mac's show. The e-mails were usually great starting decent discussions or making me laugh. The hell with it, it is a suggestion. Bring'em back Mac! |

true, it certainly seems that way. but, they did read about 5 emails during the 2nd half of the show. so, i'm not sure what the deal is... maybe that's comcast feedbag zone stuff. |

I think the missing element is the fact that McNeil isn't in a constant state of annoyance from talking to stupid ass Harry. The Danny Mac show needs an annoying retard from Glencoe. I could nominate a few. |

I agree that it seems that there is an element missing, and maybe that's why my recollection of the old Heavy Fuel Crew is so solid? Terry was alive, and he and Dan made a nice point-counterpoint? From what I've heard/read here, McNeil is still really happy with his selection of meatpants. I don't get it. I don't think meatpants is very good ... and is average, at best, at his "expertise" area of baseball. When I hear meatpants speak, it's usually in deference to McNeil. And, yes, I do hear him getting swallowed up into the cadence and tone of McNeil radio as well. Anyway, I can't imagine what a Bernstein-McNeil pairing would sound like. And as much as I enjoy Boers and Bernstein, I do almost hope that WSCR starts getting smacked around in the ratings - resulting in Rosen being removed, and a reshuffling of players. I'd be more than open to hearing the Bernstein-McNeil dynamic. Maybe those two being paired up would result in both of them toning down their overdone style? |

I like meatpants. I like this show. When I meant missing element it wasn't to say this is why the show isn't good for me. It was more of a, "I wish they had this too" type of thing. I don't know if Mac and Bernstein can co-exist. I think Mac would tune out of Bernstein'd soap box soliloquoys. However, the best radio for me going right now anywhere on the dial or satellite is at 1:00 to approx 1:20. The cross over with these two shows is outstanding. |

It seems to me that Spiegel handles most of the texts and possibly emails. I'm guessing that he likes the texts better because they're short and sweet..plus, the texts are sponsored by Comcast. He loves Peoria Matt and Johnny Fontaine...not that they're bad or anything. They're quite good, but every frickin' day gets old. I've made a few text contributes (nothing all that good, mind you). I like the suggestion though, Ryan. Hopefully they will read some more. I know I've heard Mac apologize for not reading as many emails and that they'd get to them. Maybe they don't necessarily have a segment set aside for it. |

And now Mac has a Twitter account for the show. Is there no end to the number of times we reinvent instant messaging & email? The new Ubuntu has am IM client that does twitter, facebook, and the major IMs all in one package. Sort of like a meta-chat. Good, bad, or just another repackaging? |
