Wanna come over? I usually clean or work out when I listen to the radio but we can have a listening party instead.

I hope Goff doesn't talk the whole freaking time. The last few times these 3 have been together have disappointing.

Goff and Mac work very well together and the shows have been very good, IMO. I just can't figure out Vandy and what he's supposed to bring to the table.

Vandy is better than Spiegel--let's face it, just about anybody is--but Goff is better than OPV.

I agree that a Mac-Goff pairing is preferable to a triumvirate of Mac-Goff-and-OPV.

Actually, if you got rid of both Mac and OPV, you'd probably have the best combo of all.

don't understand all the OPV love. the only reason he is on the airwaves is because he is friends with mac, right? he is average to below average and states the obvious too much.

Goff is okay. He has good knowledge but I don't find him very entertaining. I also think he gets a little too B&Bish. I appreciate that he seems to work hard, prepare, and is charismatic, but I usually find him lacking in some way. I don't really like him solo. He's really good with basketball but I care about basketball less than baseball.

I think OPV is very entertaining and he brings out the best in Mac. The laughs are real and he doesn't shy away from disagreeing with him. Mac with just Goff is blah. Mac is cordial but not fun or argumentative with him which is kind of how I feel he is with Speigel. Goff always sounds like he wants to impress but doesn't want to step on Mac's toes.

Sorry you are going to miss it doug.

Not a Big Fan of the three man booth. Except maybe Patrick, Theismann, and Maguire. Now that was good.

I agree.

In my opinion, Mac has been steadily declining for at least the past 5 or 6 years. He knows little about sports and less about pop culture. His act is tired.

I wonder if Elmhurst Steve desires to be OPV. Does he have a day planner of when to call each show with his thoughts and a checklist of each show?

I have been sort of listening/mostly working this morning. I can't remember really hearing anything said by Vandy. He needs more precense. The way he just chimes in occasionally makes him seem like a producer just giving a quick thought...

He's good at adding some anecdotes and random college football stories.

I'm not being "anti-Vandy". Last time was just fun. This time I'm really giving an honest assesment of the guy. He may be cool and all (I've never met him), but he seems to lack any sort of entertainment value, IMO.

People listen for different things. Everyone wants someone with some sort of sports knowledge. But what about entertainment? That's why I dig Laurence. His show is very entertaining, and most of it is not even done on purpose. Vandy needs to find his niche, 'cause right now I'm not sure what he's going for...

Is the OP in this thread trying to get laid by Daniel's buddy or something? There is no possible way that anyone is actually a fan of a friend of a host that comes in to fill in once every couple of months, is there?

I have heard this guy once or twice, and he's nothing more than a push in my book. The first time I heard him I figured it must be a Make A Wish dream made true, but then I read that he's just a pal of Daniel's. I guess everyone needs their Fritzy, right?

Not sure why Daniel feels like Goff needs another body in the booth when he fills in, but I guess that's why he makes the big bucks and all I do is post about it on a message forum.

ok fair enough. I guess I just have a hard time believing someone is giving "an honest assessment" when they say I do not remember hearing him say anything. He has been talking throughout the whole show. It just seems like a weak point that is just made to be anti vandy than really given an honest assessment.

That's why I prefaced my statement with "I have been sort of listneing". I'm sure he's been talking, he just isn't memorable I guess...
