I wish they'd play some old tapes of Dan McNeil filling in for Chet on some of those Friday night shows. He does the Chet impression now but it's better now than when he used to try to introduce guys as a fill-in in Chet-speak. |

Congratulations on 25 years in radio. As a 20 year listener (minus suspensions and your 6 month sabbatical) the work you have done over the years has provided countless hours of entertainment. Not to mention the manniversaries, tailgate parties, INFEAT golf outings, remotes, events, roasts, anniversaries, and tickets to sporting events….For all of that, I thank you. doug – evergreen park. I had posted the correct numbers here last night already, along with the fact that the Sox are 2 games under .500 against A.L. teams on the year. I think the numbers are altogether relevant and made for a convincing argument that it's over for the Sox (despite what Lawrence believes). I thought the point about tailoring a ballclub to fit the park was a good one too. Kenny had the right idea in my opinion. I like the style of play Ozzie would like to employ...in a bigger park (Petco for example) but NOT at U.S. Cellular. I'm not sure I make that call, had I not caught so much flak for my mathematical error. but after further investigating the Sox and Twins remaining schedule and the fact that the winning streak the Sox enjoyed was predominantly built upon in interleague play, I felt compelled to impart the information/stats gathered. Besides, I wanted to wish Dangerous a Happy Anniversary. Lastly....I don't write out scripts. I generally have any stats I'm going to use jotted down to ensure accuracy. but I don't write out any script for my calls. I know what I'm going to say for the most part, but you always have to assume that there will be give/take where I am going to have to respond to a comment/question from Mac/ Matt. So it's important to be ready for that. When Lawrence pointed out that the Twins have series' left with the Angels and Rangers, I was ready with the fact that they still have easy series' with the Mariners, Royals, Tigers and Indians...though Lawrence correctly pointed out that the Indians record in the division is pretty good. I like the give/take exchanges in the calls. Matt really knows Baseball too and I especially enjoy talking baseball with Matt. |

When Matt first started on the air, I thought he was pretty bad. He was licking Mac's ass so regularly, it was annoying. Plus, he had little phrases he used FAR too often (you gotta OWN IT) . But in the time he's been on now, he has improved dramatically. I think his knowledge of Baseball is far above average. He knows Baseball and he likes the game too. As someone that really enjoys Baseball, thats important to me. |
