He also called Cutler "Orton" and had been "waiting a while". So I guess he doesn't get right on.

There was a whole thing last year, and somewhere in the threads, I think he referenced "The Elmhurst Steve Brand", which has led to a lot of mocking.

It all began with Mac. I had spoken with him (not on-air) about possibly changing my moniker. He told me that Elmhurst Steve was a branded name. That it was a name well known by listeners and that I should not change it. I considered what he said and decided he was right. Actually, Jurko referred to me as "The Brand" a couple weeks ago on-air as well, which made me laugh. I didn't expect to hear that out of him.

Mac is a genius. "Elmhurst Cletus" just doesn't have the same ring.

Sounds like The Brand's "Orton" created a lot of text traffic.

In the beginning there was Mac, and the word was with Mac, and the word was Mac. It was with Mac in the beginning.

Through him all things were parodied; without him nothing was parodied - and that was good. In him was life, and that life was the fight of men.

There came a man who was sent from the wilderness; his name was Meatpants. He came as a witness to testify concerning that fight, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the fight - not AT ALLLLLL; he came only as a witness to the fight. The true fight that gives fight to every man that was coming into the world.

Mac then became fleshy and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, full of grace and truth.

one day i'm going to start up my own brand and call up shows as "wood dale" and amaze you with, example, my textbook-level knowledge of orioles closer koji uehara's WHIP (0.98), pittsburgh pirates pretty good brown hope jose tabata's OPS (.758) and PITCHER FROM TEH FUTURE madison bumgarner's middle name (because such knowledge is thusly branded and therefore subject to copyright laws, i will only be able to inform you that its initial is "K"). and i'll have humerous anecdotes borne of inside jokes because i've never sniffed a mic that didn't make me go WOO like ric flair (stylin and profilin' baby)

then in phase 2 i will go remotes dressed up like that dude from king of the hill and spout conspiracy theories about how the CIA has contacted show hosts and producers in a dastardly plot to deny me airtime for nefarious reasons that are too classified to discuss here in the public discourse. i might not necessarily be a thoughtful and insightful caller, but when i walk into bars people will inevitably go "oh shit it's wood dale" and immediately hand me free beers to stay on my good side, because awestruck listeners only stop over by me to buy cigarettes since i'm not subject to cook county taxes.

I was thinking about changing my moniker to Sonny Corleone but I talked to LoHo and Goff and they said, dude, you're brand is so awesome, you gotta keep it. We all love it. I sensed a bit of sarcasm.

The best was when he called B&B and said "this is Elmhurst Steve, but I'm in Skokie (or whatever town) today". Or when somebody referred to him as "Steve in Elmhurst" and he said "No, that's Elmhurst Steve". This isn't a bit, kids. He's serious. My question to ES is now that you have this brand, how are you going to leverage it?

Pages 1-10 are great in that thread. The rest isn't worth your time.

How did I forget about this post from that same thread.

1) Pick a sports team to talk about.
2) Go to baseball-reference.com and search for statistics no one cares about, that lead to an obvious conclusion.
3) Write them down so I can read them on the radio
4) Call up, make obvious statement
5) Back it up with "facts"
6) Say obvious statement again.
7) Celebrate my celebrity and the free drinks I may get when my friend says "This is Boilermaker Rick".

That's been almost the exact script that nearly all of Steve's baseball posts have had the past few months replacing "Call up" with "Post".

For as much of an ego as he appears to have, he does call in regularly and make contributes...gotta give him that. He's shown some incredible dedication. Is this "tongue in cheek"? I'm not even sure.

I'm also not sure if I've been branded or not. I've had many sleepless nights pondering my worthiness of being branded.

You might consider tightening-up your parameters on what constitutes a contribute.
