I've been away, so I may be wrong on the particulars here, but Elmhurst Steve painted Mac's house? Despite all the "don't get me wrong, I'm not racist but I hate black people" stuff?

I can understand Mac not wanting to completely cut off ES from calling, etc. That would be unprofessional and awkward for the 98% of listeners that don't know the backstory. But to invite an avowed racist and clear ignoramus into your home is a poor reflection upon one's character, especially since there is no doubt Mac knows about ES's, um, "controversial" statements about minorities.

It's true that he painted his house. He called him on the job site too supposedly.

Mac even mentioned it again a week or two later when referencing how he would redecorate the walls.

I recall him saying something about how he would never invite a black person to his home based on the fact that he is black.
I remember something about how he would never have relations with a white woman who had previously in her life had relations with a black guy.
Something about choosing not to work in towns populated by undesirables.
He wouldn't hire a black guy.

I doubt Dan reads anything outside of his section. I haven't read most of the statements that have been attributed to Steve.

Anyway, if you restricted your hiring of tradesmen to only those with a perfectly progressive view of race relations, you would have a tough time finding workers nor would you have a police force or fire fighters (how's that for a broad statement).
