Lets take a trip down memory lane.

When this show first started this board was there for Spiegal to embrace.

He did with those first few posts that have been quoted lately.

Also, when Scorehead was ripping him daily in the begginning he had many, many defenders. In fact if you go back and read the threads around the time ths show was announced, a lot of it was positive.

He had a built in ALS (Good Dolphin and the Danny Mac ALSers were ready to jump on)

Since then he's been ripped, like all hosts, for a variety of reasons. Some legit, some not.

But then he oddly chooses Rick's post, which was a legitimate constructive criticism, to lash out at the board.

Tired of reading about his days off, I suppose.

But then he gets hammered on here through YourMom and he addresses it on air several times?

Thats wise.

Then, he reads Irish Boy's review, which was less than scathing. (Personally if I were Matt, my response would have been: I went to the game to report got what I needed and left.) and responds to that on air

I just dont see the logic in any of these moves.

There are a myriad of options for hosts to address this board:

Ignore
Read and dont respond
Read and respond like once a year
Read and respond often
Threaten Legal action

All those make sense. Nothing Spiegal has done seems logical, to me at least.

Have a good show boys!

(Although, I think Terry's peeps is spectacular! I dont do show previews. I feel like radio shows dont need previews and are better consumed FRESH)

He can't stop lurking either. Take a look at the current users browsing each topic you visit throughout the day. I rarely see any guests in most topics. Every topic about him though always has 1 or 2 guests it seems.

his rants are very DDave-ish

frankly i'm kinda worried about him. it sounds like a certain level of paranoia is setting in. i don't think he'll be much longer for this job

i'm sure that's the Score interns' job. that must be pretty funny- "hey joe, today I just want you to troll this internet message board and let me know any bad things said about Matt"

Dont scare him off dude.

We want him to feel comfortable here.

He still has a chance. Nothing is broken. It can be fixed. All he has to do is Man up and post here.

The power of a host coming here and the 'points' it gives him with the board are HUGE.

He used to post here, but he doesnt have to.

Larry's legion (Northside Dan, Krazy Ivan, Dr. Ken, Myself, Robert Chief) speak for him.

I'd agree with this line of thinking. He can definitely come on here and start some
constructive conversations regarding improving the show or sports in general. I just don't
see him being able to ingore the asshats that will swarm and try to start something
with him. He has his own moniker, he just needs to sack up and come out here. I
think almost everyone who posts here regularly has had to go through a short period of hazing.
I don't get to listen to the show much yet, but an occasional visit from Meat would be
nice.

You're officially on the list.

Larry's a man of the people and he goes to where they are.

If the search function worked, I'd go find Hoffy's review of the remote at a dealership in Crystal Lake.

I think it went along the lines of "I drove by, and there was no one there. I almost felt bad enough to stop, but I was hungry so I went home instead"

I think Goff was at a K&G Men's store over the weekend. Where do they even come up with this stuff? I still remember Fredrico sitting in the feminine products aisle at Walgreens

Spiegel has met a boatload of us in person.....We are the bunch that flunked the Barney the Dinosaur sensitivity class.....HE'S IN A DAMNED JOB WHERE HE IS GOING TO BE RIPPED BY SOMEBODY....He's in a job where he is supposed to have opinions...GUESS WHAT....not everybody is going to agree and you can't pack up the mic and go home.
If Matt refuses to see the evil sense of humor in most of us, maybe he's not trying!!!!!!! 8)

That explains why he was talking about him and Miska helping people pick out clothes after the show was over...I caught the tail end when I was in the car.

Wrong. He was taking notes.

I agree RPB. When the show first started I was more than happy to give Speigs time to grow as a host. He hasn't. He has actually regressed. At the beginning, he was more willing to disagree with Mac, whereas now he has become more sycophantic.

I don't care that he takes days off. It's an easier listen with Mac and Goff.

Oh it is deliciously clear that this board gets under his skin and he just can't stand it knowing that we're here... gasp... critiquing him in a manner not unlike how he criticizes coaches, AD's, and players.
He can dish it but he is really bad at taking it.
That's the worst kind of quality in his business. And it makes for grand entertainment. Remember how North wanted to sue a board member? That was entertaining for everyone (Except the target of the suit).

I realize nearly the entire country hates Favre but that is beside the point there. Meat rips him, wishes bad things upon him and seems to take genuine joy and pleasure in him failing and getting injured. That is way harsher than anything anyone here does to meat.

If you're going to do it, make sure you get to the UCLA/Villanova game before the first half is over.

Do they talk about sports on this show?

I had a similarly disappointing first experience that I detailed in the tailgate thread.

This is a lot of bitching about nothing.
