At least for a week, anyway with Silvy being on vacay.

I hope you were saving your NBA thoughts for now, Mac. John Wall had a good game yesterday.

Meat might as well start the show by telling us all about his plans with the biscuit for this fine day because he is going to do it anyways.

So what you guys are saying is that I made the right choice to listen to my Arcade Fire albums as a sort of victory celebration for a decent band beating a bunch of overproduced crap?

The critically-lauded Arcade Fire took home the Grammy Award for Best Album of the Year for “The Suburbs,” their third full-length, besting sets by Lady Antebellum, rapper Eminem, pop singer Lady Gaga, and Top 40 hitmaker Katy Perry.

To say this was unexpected would be an understatement. Earlier in the evening, Arcade Fire dropped the Best Alternative Album Grammy to the Black Keys’ “Brothers.” This sets up an interesting theoretical question for Grammyologists: how could “The Suburbs” be designated the best album overall when it isn’t even the best album in its genre?

Interesting point...

Thanks Mac for giving fair warning as to when Joe Cowley will be on.

Makes him easier to avoid.

Mac sounds so damn disingenuous when talking about the NBA.....

Was he forced to watch it when he was with MJH, and because WMVP is the Bulls flagship station? I never realized his dislike for basketball when he was on that station. It sounds real bad now.

He sort of did. Had to fake it a bit since they did the Skiles show and everything.

Maybe MJH was just good enough that one didn't really notice the NBA hate. Maybe this show hasn't reached that level yet where I find it tolerable...

Yeah the countdown to Bourbonais talk was also a subtle way to show his disdain for all things basketball. In addition to this smarmy way in which he critique NBA games that some would find exciting i.e. the buzzer beaters, fourth quarter comeback games with comments such as scintillating when obviously he did not mean it. the comments regarding scintillating were followed typically followed up by wake me when the playoffs are over or something showing his disdain. During the Boers years the talk was always about how the people who attend Bulls games were not as much basketball fans as they were Michael Jordan fans. This can be easily refuted by the attendance figures of Bulls games during the lean years of Tim Floyd and Bill Cartwright. (a period when the attendance of Bulls games was amongst the highest in the league. The Bulls whether certain sports media types like it or not have become must see tv again thus making it difficult to sustain long held prejudices without offending your listenership.

Good question Doug. Personally I don't think Arcade Fire belongs in the Alternative genre. Maybe I'm
wrong with that, but comparing them and The Black Keys seems odd to me.

I think "Alternative Genre" may be the hardest to define, it's a dumb label......are the Black Keys "alternative"?

Good question my dear Spanky. I would put them in the "Rock: genre. but then again I don't see
The Jayhawks or Wilco as Country Alternative either. Who knows....
