Mac said that Castro is not ready to play major league SS.

And Mac, you should know better than to use the term "Tard Card" because you know how much it hurts you to hear it from others, and even though you think that you have the right to use hurtful words because you're affected by it, remember that they're still hurtful. Maybe someone hearing that don't know what your position was on it. not everone that listens to you knows everything about you.

Sure, it's good to say things that get people talking and move the meters so to speak but there's something also to sounding like you know what the hell you're talking about.

"Tard Card" AND he was making fun of Eric Claptons child falling to his death out of a hotel window....not good Mac.

Also, has it been established if Mac even knows who or what Starlin Castro is?

I don't remember hearing him say Castro was overrated but he did call him a butcher. He's not on an island with that opinion.

He's a bad defemsove shortstop and probably never will be a major league SS

Hopefully he can learn to play a very solid 2B

I don't know... I mean, he's just getting started. His error wasn't because he didn't have the range or boffed one off his boot... it was a bad throw. A bad throw in the first couple games of the year in cold weather. I'm not ready to say that a guy who hits the shit out of the ball is "not ready" because of a single error and a couple youngdudeish throws.

Defensively he's not ready

Offensively he was born ready.

Not ready is probably the wrong term, beause it implies he will be ready someday.

His future is at second base, IMO

Post subject:  Re: If you say Starlin Castro is overrated

i agree he will most likely move to 2nd base.. he has the strong arm and range to be a great shortstop..just a wild arm.

He is 21. I do not think it is outside of the realm of possibilty that he learns to calm down and not make stupid throws.

That is how I feel as well. So many seem to be convinced he will be a 2nd baseman and maybe he will, but the kid is so young. I am not ready to give up on him as a SS. Give him a couple years.

yeah yeah, that's what Stone said but the guy has pretty damn good range. We'll see, but I think he's got the raw skills to be a great SS. Just needs to work on that clock in his head a little. His D game has been relatively solid besides some bad throws. That means he is there with the Skill, just not with the smarts, but smarts come with every game he plays. I bet he won't do a few things again that he's done already this year that we've shaken our heads at.
Hey, he just needs some flight miles right???

Post subject:  Re: If you say Starlin Castro is overrated

Well when Jae Kuk Ryu was here, Castro was already on the path to second base.

I dont think that should change because of the Garza trade.

Also, most world series winning teams are strong defensively at short stop.

Its not a BAD thing that he moves to second base.

Don't the Cubs already have like 3 second basemen?
It's not gonnan happen, let's just give the kid a chance. I bet you that by the AS game we're already saying this kid has made HUGE strides and looks much better at SS
