For some reason it really seems to bother Mac that Hawk shuts his fucking mouth when the Sox are getting pasted. Does he really need constant gibberish to be able to enjoy a ballgame? Frankly, I don't want my announcers making goofy small talk about the letters in guys' names and yukking it up when my team is getting shellacked. I want those motherfuckers to sound as miserable as I feel. Just keeping quiet also does the trick. |

Hawk does it too much There was a cubs sox game one year where he said like two words the final two innings. Thats too much (or too little) |

He is supposed to call the entire game. Its unprofessional for him to get all pissy when his team is losing and not speak....not that anything about his broadcasting is professional. |

UMN, I know that "a little dead air never hurts anyone,", as one of my idols Chet Coppock always said. I think what Ken Harrelson has done in recent years when the White Sox have been stinking up the ballpark makes me wonder what's wrong with the volume on my TV. It is unprofessional and Harrelson should know better. If Harrelson wants to bitch & moan about the umpires' strike zone and a certain someone whose initials are Joe West, fine! When your team sucks on the field, say so! |

I don't really need another tired ass story about the way Yaz trimmed his pubic hair during the 1968 season when Matt Thornton just gave up a grand slam to Kosuke Fukudome. |

That Yaz stories are the only alternative to dead air is only further proof that Hawk is a terrible broadcaster. |

This isn't Vin Scully allowing the stadium sounds to convey what just took place. This is a pouty broadcaster choosing to suck his thumb instead of DO HIS JOB. |

It just seems disingenuous to stop being descriptive because your team is losing. That's not a broadcaster, that's a whiny fan. |

Guys, if "Hawk" is a "terrible broadcaster", why will the White Sox honor him Friday night before the 6-game homestand vs. the Orioles? Shark, I believe Hawk is a talented broadcaster. His job is to keep the viewers interested -- not lose interest when his team trails. |

Part of that shtick is silence when the Sox are getting killed. Sox fans don't seem to mind. Most of the complaints seem to come from Cub fans. I would suggest Mac stop pretending to be a Sox fan and listen to Len and Bob giggle like second graders over the way a man spells his name. |

Agree...when Hawk gets on my nerves, I mute the tv and go throw some music on. |

Irony: Most of the same people who get mad at Hawk for being quiet for an inning or two every so often are the same ones who would want him to be replaced and not be there for 9 innings. |
