Post subject:  Being "sad" vs. clincally "depressed"

I was SAD when my mother committed suicide in February of 1980. I was 18.

I am DEPRESSIVE because I inherited her brain chemistry, which includes a genetic predisposition for depression and other mental illnesses, including addiction and alcoholism.

I am an IDIOT for recognizing this when I was 20, then trying to "beat it." It was because of my GRANDIOSITY.

Questions?

Let's ask Dr. IMU.... Nope, it's because you are poor.

Losing battle...people who don't think there is a difference won't be convinced otherwise...

...best of luck to you.

Well put Mac. Aside from helping yourself, it could bring some clarity for many others. This board made it apparent how misunderstood depression can be. Congrats on making the decision to tackle it for yourself, and those close to you.

Good to hear you on the radio, and to see you posting on the board again. What you are going through is all too real, and no laughing matter.

I heard you mention you found no joy in anything. Not even hitting a 3 game parlay???

Sure it is a short term bump, but a little something something!

Simply put, you gotta do what you gotta do to feel better about stuff!

Paint, Dance, Cook, Bet, Bike......something new should come out of this.

Time for a new hobby!!!!!

I cracked a joke (because I can't help it),but I honestly forgot you were back on the air today until I just logged in here. What ever is bothering you,I respect that you have the guts to talk about it on the air. I hope you can overcome your issues and best of luck to you.
Also,I'll be listening tomorrow.

I bang on the skins to let out some aggression and also to bond and have that male comradery thing going on Sat afternoons. Doing what makes you feel great that is safe is something rare, but important to find.

I can kind of identify with and understand the "clincally depressed" thing. My Grandmother had it, my sister has it and my girlfriend has it. Not only did she already have it and have anxiety and panic attacks, but she lost REALLY close people within 4 years and it's taking quite a toll on her. Makes for a tough relationship, but it's getting better each day.

I wish you well, Mac and let me know if ya need anything. Enjoyed the show today....good to hear ya back. 8)

I'm just glad the board is relevant enough to get people back.

Maybe Facebook is getting too rough.

It is interesting how he pissed all over the board and fled to Facebook and now he's back trying to "regain the trust". I don't wish any ill will on you Dan, but fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...

Did it bother you when that Jason Goff was constantly doing the stupid "Da Ma Na" thing during your 6-week recovery? I kind of took it as him belittling you and your situation. Did you take it that way? B&B did it too. But Goff took that damn thing to a weird level.

Post subject:  Re: Being "sad" vs. clincally "depressed"

What is this "regain the trust" thing? I don't get it. :? Honest question

And what does it matter if he posted on facebook or here? Why not both?

Post subject:  Re: Being "sad" vs. clincally "depressed"

It's just interesting that after declaring message boards dead and decrying the negativity here, he has come back after his extended absence.

I don't agree with the trust stuff. Dan has nothing to prove to me.

Speeps said it best about Dan's views on this board. I thought it was great when he would come on here and shoot the shit and answer pretty much every question that was asked of him. It just seemed when he started his current show, his little bitch of a partner got in his ear and told him about the evil message boards and pretty much from there on out, pissed on the board on air. I hope that Dan continues his treatments, follows his Doctor's advice and gets unconditional support from his family.
