on this national push by CBS radio. This is probably the most significant news in the sports talk industry in years. I'd love to hear your take. I think this is going to suck for local fans but great for you with the prospect of either a third station bidding for your services or CBS giving you some national exposure. |

Dan McNeil now has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Mike North and go national too. |

I don't see Mac ever going national, unless the money is astronomical......very grounded and entrenched in Da Region. I can't believe I typed Da Region. |

I sent a tweet saying "I wonder how Matty, Jason, and Laurence feel about this", and so far, the only one to respond was Matty saying "Me thinks you wonder too much". |

Goff and drinky will be fine, because they can be producers. Laurence probably stays as a fill-in for the normal shifts.Everyone else should be applying to be a Chicago firefighter. |

Interesting. Here is the article on CBS national sports radio. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/cbs-creates-the-largest-major-market-sports-radio-network-in-the-nation-2012-06-21 Says they are going to invade the Score and other CBS stations across the country. Still local programming, obviously, but the Score will have national shows as well, I would think. This is bad news for Score backup hosts. Probably less weeknights and weekends for them to prove themselves. Why pay extra when you can just plug in the national feed at the Score. Hell, why let Larry do a half hour show when you can do a half hour of national radio? More cost effective for all local stations across the country. Plus I'm sure CBS corp will be pushing the local affiliates to air some of their national shows. |

I'd also believe that Jason is some kind of secret superhero on the side.......fighting the likes of Beardown. |

CBS isn't the only network starting up a 24/7 sports radio network. NBC Sports is teaming with Westwood One/Dial Global Radio Network to launch NBC Sports Radio Network starting this fall, too. |

With CBS Sports headquarters now being more hands on with its local radio stations, I wonder if it might change the tone of the Score. I'm sure they'll have a suit come into Chicago to check out the Score's programming. He'll be shocked to hear all of the race-baiting, The "Fuck Yous" to listerners, the by crackys, the bashing of white people and all the other weirdness. CBS corp might put an end to Bernstein radio in Chicago. That's how Bristol handles its radio stations across the country. They have content policies. Might happen to the Score. |

I think it also means The SCORE gets re-branded as "CBS SportsRadio 670 AM" or "CBS SportsRadio Chicago", along with other CBS Radio sports talk properties across America. The station will still be known as WSCR legally, but that's about it. The SCORE as we know it might be history... |

Remember the shitstorm over turning WCBS-FM into Jack FM? That went about as poorly as anything could go. Turning the Fan into "CBS Sports New York" is going to cause entire chunks of Queens and Nassau to erupt in righteous outrage. |

CH, I remember the Hollander Brothers, the bosses of CBS Radio at the time, took a lot of heat for the whole JACK-FM fiasco, not just here in Chicago at 104.3 FM, but in New York as well. |

Rome's radio show has to be a part of this I would imagine. He just signed a big deal with CBS. I think it's still gonna be local in all the big markets, but if a show is failing, I'm sure CBS will make the local station give Rome a try before they try another local show again. Something like that might happen. Mike and Mike has worked at ESPN 1000 for over a decade even though they suck. |

I know he signed that deal for the new TV show on the CBS Sports Network. Maybe that 25 million per year was also to be a part of their radio side. Maybe his current radio deal is ending. The article says CBS sports radio launches January 2nd. |

Factually speaking, guys, even though Jim Rome's new sports talk show simply called "ROME", airs on CBS Sports Network, DIRECTV 613, weekday afternoons, and recently signed a deal to also do shows on sister network Showtime, Rome's syndicated sports talk radio show is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks. That's a unit of ClearChannel, the largest radio broadcaster in the country and owns a handful of stations here. It's not part of CBS. |

CBS Executive: Hi fellas. I'm just flying to all of our affiliates to implement a new policy and procedure for our company's radio producers. Basically, the jist of the policy is "NO ASS HAT BEHAVIOR FROM PRODUCERS". I'll leave you guys a copy of the policy and procedure book with all of the details. Goff: Drinky: |

In general, it is quite easy to cut costs in any business and all this does is cut costs. Now some might say it creates a lessor product. Which in concept I would agree when you talk National programs v Local Stuff, but I think the Scores local after BB shows kinda suck. A good CEO increases revenue and makes a better working envrionment for everyone. Zimmerman, is not a good CEO, I think he enjoys people fearing him and leaving them hanging when it comes to employment status. |

For the record, Rod Zimmerman is the BIG BOSS of CBS Radio locally. He's technically the V.P. & General Manager of CBS Radio's 780 WBBM-AM & 105.9 WCFS-FM, better known these days as "Newsradio WBBM", but Zimmerman oversees all the CBS properties here, including The SCORE, 93XRT, US 99.5, B96 & 104.3 K-Hits. |

Heard the same story from many of them and while some might say he is just being a good businessman, just saving man is not everything about being a good businessman. You don't need to throw parties and have catered lunches, but treating people a certain way that does not create bad feelings on a constant basis I think is a start. |
