What tailgate? That never existed. It's always been a block of tickets that Mitch set aside for a specific date in late August against the Seattle Nintendos that they could give away to callers. There was no plan for anyone from the station to ever show up. You guys are all hallucinating.

That said, there will be Sox discussion. There will be Bears discussion.

Listen. Or PTFB.

Bless you for keeping on this, boyd.

I'm sure we will all get a detailed explanation as to why the tailgate, which was hyped up to the stratosphere, was suddenly and inexplicably canceled. This sordid affair is certainly among the greatest stories never told.

Quite frankly, I don't care. I'm having fun with the conspiracy theory.

I am going to the game anyway, and we have some pretty sweet tailgating plans set up, and I am actually looking more forward to that than I was the Mac-gate.

In fact, what I'm annoyed by is the fact that this is my 3rd Sox game this year, and it's on schedule to be my 3rd Carlos Quintana start.

So far not a word. They're much more preoccupied with Dr. Meat's explanation of the Urlacher procedure. In the end, it's true that it's only a tailgate, but it does seem kinda shitty to simply ignore it and not say a thing as to what happened. Especially with Mac's entire radio persona shaped as man of the masses.

I'd like to hear an explanation at least, because I never would have gotten tickets if it wasn't for the Mac tailgate going on. I kinda flipped around other plans for the day to go to that. Not a real big deal, as I'm still going, tailgating, and will have fun anyway, but a reason as to why the little shindig was cancelled would be nice to hear.

UH OH, Mac going on the offensive against high school football coaches.

Punters need scholarships so the coach is a jerk for not punting.

"It's garbage."

Now they want to have Coach Kelly on. Keep it.

This is all very interesting.

So they're busy with "stuff", and Mac couldnt get his shit together, hence the cancellation. That clears it up. Im more entertained than annoyed - how hard is it to put a fucking tailgate together?

Apparently it's really, really hard.

Even harder still to give a legitimate reason for it.

It tears at my heart t see a so-called 'Man of the People' to shit all over the very listeners that stood by him and made him rich.

Also, this "Coach that doesn't punt" angle is going to make for very, very bad radio.

He's not being totally up front about this for some reason.

"Just blame me" really isn't a valid reason for why this thing isn't happening. Not that he owes anyone an explanation, but you just expect him to be more transparent than he is right now...

The first lesson in SomeGuy becoming a better person is....understanding.

I want you to try to understand where DaMaNaaa is coming from.

That's today's exercise.

How can we understand where he is coming from if he refuses to tell us where he is coming from?

It's pretty simple. If they weren't trying to hide something, they would simply tell you why it was cancelled.

I think the Sox killed it. I think they don't want to tell Score listeners cuz it makes Reinsdorf look petty and spiteful. Mitch needs to protect Reinsdorf and the Score's partnership with the club.

Jerry wanted his usual handout, and it didn't happen, so no tailgate.

Maybe he is trying to cover for the Score or the Sox. Either way, its lame all the way around.

I posted the above on June 20th...

On July 2nd, they confirmed the date on the air.

On August 21st, they cancel the event.

Why such the big deal over a high school coach that doesn't punt?

Now they want to have other high school coaches on the show? Isn't there enough out there to talk about?

So they need to cancel an event that has been planned, hyped, promoted, VIP prizes handed out and the like....because Meat can't be bothered to get his shit together the next fucking morning/late morning for a tailgate at a White Sox game? Standing there talking to people, drinking water/coke/beer, eating a hotdog, walking around a bit is going to be too fucking hard after becoming Tom Petty for two hours?

My god! Pick a career already!

Eh, its their gimmick. I see what you mean though.

I would hope it didn't get cancelled because of some Petty cover songs the night before. Christ, Speigs wouldn't even have to go to the game. Show up at 4, press the flesh a bit, maybe man the grill for a few minutes, and leave after the game starts. He could be back home by 7:00 if he wanted.
