Wish I could remember it word-for-word, but Spiegs mentioned how on the ESPN pre-game show for MNF that Steve Young compared the NFL not caring about the replacement ref situation to some economic "Elasticity of Demand" law. Trent Dilfer and Stuart Scott were apparently dumbfounded and didn't know what to say.

This imagery made me laugh hysterically for some reason.......needed a laugh after hearing the sad news of Steve Sabol passing. :(

I never took an economics class but we learned all about elastic vs inelastic demand in high school. The basic concept is very simple to understand. I found it amusing that they were like "Man, Steve Young's a bright guy, not many people could follow that."

Also I was watching it live. They portrayed it accurately. Dilfer asked him to clarify and Young just repeated what he already said almost verbatim and Stuart Scott I think changed the subject or something. I laughed at the time but didn't think everyone would catch it or that it would become a story.

Sounds to me like Steve was at a Dinner Party and overheard a conversation.... :)

The demand for an invitation to the high school dance was shown to have great elasticity between when FarveFan made the invitation versus the captain of the football team

You have to grade sports-media people on a curve.

You ever seen FavreFan? He looks like he captained a football team.
