"for this not to be the greatest regular season in franchise history, possibly Chicago sports history, something would have to go horribly wrong..." - Mac

1985 and 1996 aren't exactly low bars to hurdle.

Undefeated in regulation through 40% of the season.

Digging hosts acting like giggly fans. Very unfamiliar vibe being broadcasted from 670.

I'm sure SomeGuy will be along shortly to explain far better than I, but this is the best sports radio show in Chicago. Give'em hell Mackey!!

I'm not taking anything away from the Hawks start. The '85 Bears and '96 Bulls are arguably the best teams in their respective sport's history. Let's wait more than 19 games to announce something would have to go horribly wrong for the Hawks not to eclipse them.

Don't mistake this for the "championship or meaningless" viewpoint championed by Bernstein. It's more of a plea to stop viewing everything on one extreme end of the spectrum or the other.

Mac wants to grow $1,200 show pot into $10,000 to pay for a February show remote to Hawaii.
Four squares expecting to return 700%. Good luck.

Just to add to your perspective: the Bears went 12-0 which is undefeated through 75% of the regular season. While it did not break the Dolphin record for most wins to start a season, I think you can argue that it was a greater achievement than the Hawks.

But there is a pretty good chance that the Hawks do not lose a game for the entire year and the playoffs. So I figure it will be the greatest accomplishment in human history.

Overtime(or shoot out) losses don't count I guess.

No matter how great the accomplishment, it's still just hockey.

Really

Also the 85 Bears and 96 Bulls won their sport's championship. The Hawks can get a point in every game they play this season, and it won't matter if they don't win the cup.

Yeah but they also had awesome regular seasons, the Bears like gd stated with the 12-0 start, 15-1 overall, .9375 winning percentage. Bulls obviously 72-10, well known as the best record in nba history.

I didn't figure to have a Bernstein approach to teams and championships though.

Miller was explaining how locker rooms may not be accepting of homosexuals because players are opposed due to their religion. Spiegel became sort of combative with his questions and had some condescending questions/statements. Miller explicitly stated he had no issues with homosexuals. But Spiegel sounded somehow offended that Miller said some religious players wouldn't accept homosexuals.

Thats just a bad sports thought altogether. There will be far more players not accepting of gays on their team based on the machismo factor than any religious reasons. That corner for the 49'ers spouting off during Super Bowl week being latest example.

Yea, that was kind of a uncomfortable listen. He was certainly well versed on the opinion he said he doesn't endorse.

You're really going to go that route? The man played many seasons in the NFL so I think he would be "well versed" on what goes on inside the locker room of an NFL team.

Although I believe that it is one part religion and one part alpha-male-hyper masculinity that would make it divisive or whatever.
