It's too quick for this. In marriage terms, it's like banging a wife while here husband is in a comma. It ain't right.

What am I saying? Basically Larry is too comfortable banging Spiegel. :?

But he's taking control of the show like he's not subbing. Like it's his. It ain't yours yet, Larry. Show some deference. Mac will be back!!!!! And he might even come back black!!!!

WFMT is having its pledge drive, so I'm tuning into KUSC out of LA this morning. Very clear stream!

Like somebody else said, Larry is saying "Spiegel and Holmes on the Score". Not "This is the Mac and Spiegel Show, I'm Larry filling in for Mac."

There is no way he got permission to do this from Mitch. He's acting as though Mac doesn't exist.

Next thing you know, Larry will be doing this...

Larry: Hey Finfer and Zawowski, you should feel honored to work for me. You guys should be thrilled to have me as an mentor.

Finfer: :?

Zawowski: :?

Larry: That's right!!!!! You're my "A-Team" bitches now.

Joe O: Woooo hooooo!!!! I'm free!!!! I'm free!!!!

Heard Leary had a bit made up and it starts off "THIS IS MATT for the LEARY HOLMES SHOW"

Played during Mac and Spiegs and Spiegs gave him a "whoooaaa"

Seemed really weird, even if it is just meant to be played during ;learys 38 minutes of airtime that he needs to have guests bits proclaimed HIS.

I did catch the mundane "Larry gets a pizza" story. Of which Larry told as though it was the most fascinating experience of his life.

I caught the vibe from Spiegel. You could hear it in his tone. He was thinking to himself "My God, is it really gonna be 20 hours a week of this shit?"

Maybe some listeners don't want Mac back. I guarantee you Spiegel is desperately hoping that Mac does returns to him.

Truly a rough period for the show.

Larry reminds me of one of his namesakes -- Larry Linville (Frank Burns).
Remember, how Burns would act when he would take over command of the 4077th.

They started today's show by asking caller's for their opinion on the relationship between Cubs and Red Sox fans, and then proceeded to take 1 call in the first 3 hours of the show. During those fascinating 3 hours we were regaled with comic talk, the pizza story and at least 1 fake tough guy story about punching people.

Accept the mantle as the next Jim Rose, and leave long form radio to the pros

Comma? Hell, try a parenthesis.

This thread is spot on.

Today was the worst day of the week. He sounded like he already had the gig. Why does he act like an overstimulated puppy? Relax, for fuck''s sake. Damn, he's a rough listen.

I disagree with anyone who says the show is better without Mac. If it's Laurence for an extended period, it might be PTB time.

That's a great comparison.

I noticed that Leery is in the driver's seat now. Usually when Mac was out, Spiegel shifted over to the big chair and threw to breaks, did the propers, etc.

It's definitely not the Mac & Spiegs Show with Larry filling in for Mac anymore.

I hope he brings in his signature segment, "Ask A Guy Who Places Inordinate Importance On The St. Louis Browns."

From what you're describing, sounds like the Jay Hood afternoon show, before they got Telander. Ah what an awkward time that was.

Somewhere, someone's going to figure out the early evening timeslot has its own audience and deserves someone tailored for it. As opposed to a holding tank for someone to grab the next daytime shift/sub for any/all daytime shifts.

But it won't be there.

The pace is faster akin to a three man show...but, i'd rather have "tales of muskie fishing" than "pizza delivery woes."

True, but with White Sox/DePaul/and now Illinois PBP commitments, it's difficult to have a dedicated evening show. Using it as the Leery holding tank probably makes the most sense.

I can't see why the SCORE even bothers with De Paul let alone the Sox. The Sox need a station but Farmer & Jackson are horrible.

I'm really surprised the big falling-out between MLB and CBS Radio didn't claim the White Sox. It took the Cardinals off KMOX and took the Pirates off KDKA. All the Sox fans running the Score must have big sway to keep paying the Sox for games.

"Pizza delivery woes" or "Confessions of a true dweeb weenie living in the urban city". Not a racial thing, just a weenie thing.

I also love Mac but if he really isn't coming back then why does it have to be Leery, Jason, or some other known commodity?

Some fresh blood would be good and you would think that in a nation of 300 million people there would be a person or two with an aptitude for sports radio.

In the meantime I continue my reaquaintance with 10 at 10.

To whom are they giving money? If Mac is gone they have an opening. Replace him with someone with talent from the outside and pair him with Spiegel. Leave Leery on nights and Jason in Atlanta.

How does it cost more money? Or am I missing something?
