Once again, I'm sure the show thread will be more entertaining than the show.

How depressing is this particular 'sports Monday'? I can't think of a worse one in recent memory.

This would make for a fun sports radio segment.

On another show, of course.

I agree. I was actually thinking about banning myself from sports radio for a while...at least this week.

9-1 is over, spmack.

Used to be an automatic beginning to end listen for me on a daily basis. Now it's an automatic PTFB. If anyone had a decent offering, they would bury this show ratings-wise...hell who knows, maybe it will happen anyway. Weekly rotating co-hosts would have been a better option. Laurence is a midday show killer.

I'll be checking the daily threads to see if the show is "MyBuddy" free and then I'll tune back in.

Classical music today. Can't stand the hand-wringing. I'll give B&B a shot to see what they're up to. Hopefully idiocy per usual.

Did you ever think this day would happen, Biggie?

Only caught about 20 minutes of M & H......no 9-1.....and who the fuck wants to hear Bernstein throw the vocal floodlight on his medical opinions?

"Now people are going to say YOUSE GOTS TA TALK ABOUT DA HAWKS NOW BERN-STINE! No. I don't. It's my show. I'll talk about whatever I want to," bringing us into a fascinating segment about how we need to pay a lot of attention to how much you shouldn't pay the Bulls your attention.

LH just confirmed that Rose had surgery this morning and is done for the season.

Let's see now... The Bears are bad and The Bulls are done. Gee, I wish we had a pro sports team in town that was winning and worth talking about. Oh wait, what about The 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks?!?

Teach me about the Hawks. Foster my interest in them now. Don't suddenly deluge me with Hawk talk once the playoffs begin.

Exactly. Well said, HM.

I posted this in the 11/22 show thread...

There is a valuable part of the mid day show that is, in my opinion, being wasted. Many Blackhawks fans, myself included, think a lot of Jay Zawaski and his genuine hockey passion & knowledge. Why not open an hour or two every week devoted entirely to calls about Hawks/hockey with Zawaski in the copilot's seat? I understand that this is prime Bears season and Mondays/Fridays will be spent primarily on Bears wrap up & preview. However, I can almost guarantee that any time this week that isn't Bears talk will be spent on Rose's knee injury and Bulls trade scenarios... again. Spiegs & Holmes - please give Jay a shot and see what happens. Fans are thirsty for some genuine Hawk talk. Thank you.

They have a core of young forwards and young-ish defensemen with a revolving cast of roleplayers, some from other teams but mostly drafted and developed internally. They favor an offensive system that controls time of possession rather than a dump-and-chase or run-and-gun attack. Their power play has been effective, but they have struggled to kill penalties. Fortunately, they're rarely penalized relative to the rest of the league. They're near the bottom of the league in fighting majors. They're not keeping pucks out of their own net but they're leading the league in scoring. They play the Oilers at 8 tonight if you want to watch. That should about sum it up.

Oh, was this directed at people here, or at the station? Because good luck with the second; I don't think Leery will let Zawaski talk like Mac did.

I too will occasionally take a self-imposed hiatus. Until now they came either after a bad bears loss or during a bad baseball season. But this most recent one is due to unlistenable middays.

It should be noted that if you actually want to hear Blackhawks talk "Men in Panties" aka The Garry Meier Show on WGN actually talks more hockey than the Score.
