And now it burns. Good news is that Meat is really, really having a hard time keeping his disgust and annoyance at Larry under wraps. It's seeping out more and more during the show and it is glorious. The show sucks but there may be a good chance that Meat explodes over the next few weeks....months....years?

I tune in to hear them coming out of a break and Spiegel says, sort of defensively, "We're not talking about the decision over and over, we're talking about the press conference." Oh, that's much better! He really knows what listeners want to hear. Maybe later he can mix in a little marsh peg talk. |

Holy shit, I can't take it. Heard Leary bragging about some woman coming up to him last night just to say "I follow you on Twitter." I bet he fumbled out a few words (something like "I think that's really great") and quickly ran outside to tell his mom he now has a girlfriend. A real human girl, mom! I'll be on PJ Radio until 1. To anyone who chooses to listen to this, be safe. This show needs Mac. If not, Spiegs, I beg of you, keep Leary in check. He's insufferable. |

When these guys state a fact about an issue, they kind of have this faux surprised reaction to said fact. It reminds me of the scene from the Star Wars where Obi Wan shows Dex the dart. Dex has this really surprised reaction which is way overdone. That's this show in a nutshell....including the dart (butt version of course).

Kind of funny when Pompei says NFL coaches should be aggressive and play to win, and then a sentence later says he would have run a conservative 2nd down play up the middle instead of kicking the field goal. Let's be real honest here- people love aggression when it works. Sneaky on side kicks, fake punts, go for it on fourth. When it misses, you look like a fool. If Robbie hits the field goal, we would resort to talking about the silly face masking call on MN's overtime field goal and generally sloppy play. |

Exactly! Why bother running another useless play? And then if they get aggressive and something goes wrong, the fans would have a fit. It's stupid. Just stick to the "Book." Run a play up the middle. Gain/lose a yard, kick a 47-yarder on 3rd down (cuz that's OK in the BOOK). Kick misses, nobody blames the coach. Stupid. |

My personal take is different, although I am merely pointing out that only the results matter. I hate prevent defenses. I hate conservative play calling. I would have had no problem if the Bears opened the playbook on 2nd down and tried going for the jugular including a TD. Pass, end around, off tackle, I don't care. I would never try a field goal before 4th down. As a prime example, I often yell the at the tv for the Blackhawks to keep pressing in the 3rd period even if they are only up a goal. Teams stop doing the things that got them the lead, and then they get taken out of their game. |

Yeap, people roast you whenever it goes wrong. If Trestman called a running play and Forte fumbled it away, he would be roasted for not kicking it. I am a black and white person. I tend to do repeat decisions the same way every time time. Another example: I always hit a hard 16 against a 10. That way I never have a regret that I let the 5 get away..... |

It's not a matter of being "aggressive". Going on 2nd down in this spot doesn't make you aggressive. It's a matter of playing the percentages. It's simply playing football. Closer is better for all FG kickers. You don't even need to look it up to figure that out. So run up the middle. Fine. Toss it. Fine. How about that quick zero route pass to Jeffery. Or a quick 6 yard dig route by Marshall or Jeffery. That's not too risky. How about a naked boot leg by the QB. That's very safe. He's fast enough to get around the corner. Even if you have 3rd and 2 I'd go for it. If you gain no yards or lose a couple on 2nd, then kick it on 3rd down. This is just common sense. It's not being "aggressive". |

BD, I was talking more generally. Like when they were up in the 4th quarter and ran it twice up the middle with one yard for a first. I definitely would have passed on second down. I hate seeing teams just rush three men giving the QB all day to throw or run. I have been all for Trestman going for it on fourth this year. |

aggressive is anything not in the BOOK. Tressman was aggressive in wanting the game over NOW. He put his whole wad down on Gould. Came up snake eyes. pretty sure he has learned his lesson and now will run up the middle for no gain next time. |
