I can't stand drinky as a producer, but this is a great show so far. He is so much damn better when he's relaxed and shooting the shit instead of making forced jokes and fighting for attention/air time. |

Only could listen for an hour today. However, the show sounded great today. Marty was more relaxed and led to some good radio. |

doug - evergreen park wrote: or arguing with Berns... yeah man, that does get old. kind of like yesterday's b&b show where when they got on air circa 1:20pm the first 10-20 minutes were basically "the matt abbatacola show" likely because he's hosting the doug buffone roast tonight and that was the formal rationale behind it. i'm kind of used to matt being the "zany comedy sidekick" on b&b, but like i've said over the years the guy isn't all that bad @ radio if he can get off of his perch/high-horse and stop snarling down at us from high above us great unwashed (and all of our un-moderated thoughts! can someone please auto-censor us because it's easy to forget about the REAL VICTIMS of free speech, the sports talk radio hosts who have to deal with our unfiltered/unmoderated/unsmart thoughts!) ahem. yeah i'll park my stereotypical/canned matt abbatacola talking points to join in the groupthink echo chamber and say that he did a fine job this morning.... gotta give credit where credit is due, even if i only listened to one segment. but hey those 7-10 minutes didn't compel me to grab a gun and shoot myself in the head, so i reckon that's a proper start! |

Drinky is nothing special. There is a reason why he doesnt have his own show. He is just coasting through his career, which is fine and he is earning a paycheck. He isn't entitled to a show being given to him. Does he even want his own show? If so, he could have tried to move to another market or to another station that might give him a shot. Hell, build an audience and do a podcast for an hour a couple times a week. |

Which fill-in pairings have actually been inferior to the team of Mac and Meat? Maybe Laurence with either guy and Meat and Drinky, but I'm pretty sure every other combination of one of the regulars with a fill-in has been widely preferred here to the usual line-up. |

While I didn't hear any of it, a drinky & Mac combo wouldn't work. Of course drinky was on his best behavior today. Mac let him sit with him. Drinky appreciated that. He;s not gonna be his normal self on the first day. However, if you remember, Goff was sweet heart his first few shows with Mac. I remember a lot of you guys saying that they were great together. With Bernstein's boys, they eventually get comfortable. Goff did. Then the fangs came out. Then the brat behavior started. Mac said "Fuck this" and Goff was fired from Mac's show. The same will happen with drinky |

I have always liked Matty, especially if it means replacing Spiegel. Then again, Mac is always better when Meatpants is out, just like Berns & Boers are both better when the other is out. Mitch doesn't have the balls to take a risk & make a bold move though. Weak leaders sit back & leave things alone. Strong leaders take risks & make moves even when business is good. Guess which one Mitch is? |

I guess it really doesn't matter if you like this combo or hate it, all indications are that Mac is gone in June anyway. Either cuz he doesn't want it or they don't want him. Hey, at least drinky can say he rode with Mac. At least he got the call up one time. Something to tell the grand kids one day. |

By the way, look at Mac, takes in both of Bernstein's boys. You think Bernstein would ever think to ask for one of Mac's Polish boys - Shepkowski or Zawaski? Hell no. Mac is the Mr. Drummond of the Score. Goff is Arnold and drinky is Willis. Producing the B&B show is Harlem. |
