I was asked what I would do with extended time away from radio. It's quite surprising to me that sharp guys like Dr. Noisewater and the unrivaled Beardown would interpret my book project as a leverage move. Of course it's not. There is very little money in publishing and I am not delusional about what kind of money that project would make.

Not writing it for the money. I want to write it because of what I said about leaving a bigger footprint than point spreads and pucks. Autism is an epidemic and many families could use something like this to comfort them and give them hope... to let them know they're not alone. My head has been "pregnant" with the idea for more than five years. Time to bring the pregnancy to term.

Two things give somebody leverage: other opportunities and/or a willingness to not work. I guess you can say I possess both.

10 Nuggets: Musky hunting is something I wish I'd have discovered years ago....
Patrick is going on his annual pilgrimage to Michigan soon....
Might go see Alice Cooper again next weekend....
Sirius/XM channels 26 & 27 are perfect for guys close to me in age....
Making birdie on a 60-foot bump and run with a 7-iron the other day was golf nirvana....
"This Is The End" was a fun movie to watch with Van at cottage during weather delay....
Ed's estimate on my salary is inaccurate....
Heard Tuesday Lebron James is a Cavalier again.... that true????
I love not only making tall grass short... but the whole process of "yardsmanship."....
I am not lazy.... I just don't have an interest in doing some of the things others would like me to do....

Some say that you are over the hill. They say that you have lost your passion for your craft and now you are a tough listen. How would you respond to criticism like that?

Wasn't meant to be critical of the project. I'd actually be quite interested in the book.

I've been negotiating a bunch of deals all Summer long so I suppose my mind is locked on "what's the other guy holding" poker. Plus, I was probably baiting a little to see if you'd respond. It's been a news void of late.

For the love of God please come back for kickoff. I can not handle the knob slobbing of "smart" football, awful football lingo and no talk of point spreads.

Grimace in charge has led to way way way too much Rose pysochoanalysis and roundball talk.

I said years ago that Mac's effort was getting progressively worse and now many members of his ALS agree. He's almost become Terry Boers. A Terry Boers type can't drive a show. Unfortunately Meatpants isn't strong enough to grab the wheel himself.

I do blame Mac for the fact that I'm now listening to a Spiegel and Schuster Show.

Also, he is to blame that "Two Matts. One Show." is now in the ether.

The change in ratings will be the biggest leverage point. It'll be pure cost/benefit. Are there any other stations pursuing you to the point where you may make that change?

YES. The decline of the ratings cannot be ignored. Not only does it affect the 9am-1pm show directly, but the afternoon show as well. B&B has lost the ratings battle the past 13 weeks to ESPN! The weak lead-in has to be a contributing factor.

well, you're consistent, I have to give you that. Weak lead in? What were their numbers before Mac was there? What were their numbers while Mac was there? Can you break out the "lead in" thing by showing decline after 1 PM in the 2 PM hour for example?

Post subject:  Re: Leverage

As I said in my little play, your best leverage, Mac, is the fact that Zimmerman has a bunch of idiot backups working at his station. Also, the two Chicago Bear options, Miller and Manley, are also idiots that weren't even good players. Dan Hampton was an idiot. But at least he was a HOF idiot so that made a little sense. But Hampton bombed in spectacular fashion and they had to get you to repair it. Don't think for one second that Zim isn't thinking about that.

So I say don't take a penny less than $400,000, Mac. Zimmerman will buckle. Go get him.

I think it's time to recreate the magic of Hamp and Holmes by signing Jim Miller and bringing Connor McKnight back. Middays will never be the same with Size and Sighs.

Does your son participate in any special recreation programs? Curious as I work for a Special Rec agency just across the border in Cal City. I know Indiana doesn't have as many opportunities as Illinois, but most agencies off Bernsteins favorite, summer camps, although they're mostly 9-3 and not pack them up and send them away camps. There's always Special Olympic sports going on as well.

I am right there with you on TB's effort. It's been years since the guy had anything to do with the planning of the show, but at the end of the day he is what makes it a good show. He ENTERTAINS....the constant alleged cries for "Jouranlism" on a sports talk station make me laugh. Mike North couldn't interview worth a shit 'uh...ya know", but he was a great listen for an interview. Maybe it was ultra dumb, but you and I listened.

Mac makes it a better station to listen to overall.

i think it's time for some new blood @ the score. they're wasting an invaluable resource in longtime score guy david spada, who has gone and built a radio empire out of our groans scoffs and disbelief while we're too busy wondering which new user is terry's peeps. since the score loves to toss a bear in with a show-driving armrest, i say we get david spada and tank johnson together for plugs and thugs, seeing as zim can save some $$$ by simply paying spada in plugs.

you're welcome.
