Grote:

Rozner:

Drinky:  That Mother Fucker!!!!

1. Just the over the top gushing over Mannelly during that intro yesterday. It was like he was patting himself on the back for his hire. It was nauseating.

2. Fellow Duke grad. REALLY SMART PEOPLE GO TO DUKE

3. Bernstein also mentioned how he was talking to Mitch about this hire before hand. So he let the cat out of the bag right there.

4. Mitch doesn't know how to pick guys. So he REALLY VALUES Dan's opinion. Mitch was going to do whatever Bernstein suggested. Bernstein picked Mannelly.

But will he accept responsibility when/if they suck and ratings tank even more?

I agree 100% and have thought it all along.

No. Of course not. Just like he took credit for Goff getting an Atlanta show, but not the blame for him getting fired.

Post subject:  Re: I think Mannelly was Bernstein's call

Another reason Bernstein chose Mannelly is because he's the "Athlete guy". Not the non athlete guy. So less of a threat to him at the station. He didn't want somebody like Grote to get more popular than him. He realizes that Rozner tries to copy him with his "Anti meatball" thing. That offends him that Rozner takes that from him. As far as drinky, he just thinks he's an idiot. There is probably a sick, sadistic side to Bernstein that likes the fact that drinky now has to crawl back to him and be his producer again.

Also, Bernstein wants to be the one that picked "The Smart Athlete". As opposed to picking the Dan Hampton type.

But Mannelly sounds like a dufus, not the "smart athlete".

Didn't say he got it right. Just gave his reasoning.

I don't think Dan spends 10 extra minutes at that station beyond what is demanded in his contract.

I agree.

And bernstein's contempt for Mac has been on display for a long time.

CSMB: Bernstein is not in charge of the station.

Beardown: In my mind he is.

Wouldn't take that much time. Gotta figure Dan gets to the station at least 10 minutes before 1pm. He simply goes into Mitch's office...

Bernstein: You're hiring Mannelly for the midday shift.

Mitch: Yes, sir.

What was that? 3 seconds?

Now when you do these role plays in your apartment, beardown, do you record them? Just wondering, as I think a nice addition to the little plays you put on for yourself would be if you introduced Matt Bowen. Now this is going to get meta, so hang on, but when you go back to watch the video of your bonerrific role plays between your crush drinky and obsession Bernstein and others - you could actually then record that session, and introduce Bowen as another character.

To make this really pop, you'll want to record the review session with "Bowen" on an audio-only device. It will really create an inside baseball reference that only someone as accomplished as yourself would get.

And thus the problem!

1 host is never there, the other host shows up like Bob Costas, the execuitive producer could give a shit because he is busy planning his own shows and the associate producers would like to toss the host over the side of the building.

Its all about the ANTITRUST EXEMPTION!

Don't understand why there is so much in-fighting, mistrust and hostility at the Score, when everyone over at ESPN seems to enjoy each other and pulling on the same end of the rope......Ah, Bernstein!

I doubt the Score has had a healthy esprit de corps since the earliest days on Belmont.

Both McNeil and North sound like they'd be difficult to work with. Too backstab-y, manipulate-y, and in other people's business-y.

Mac?

Really?

North was all about being up in others business.

I concur. Mac wants to be the big dog, but lacks the self-awareness to realize that he was just lucky to maintain a job after all the bullshit he's pulled.

Yeah, North broke up the Score's two most successful shows at the time, one of which was his own, so that he could have a show all to himself. People have been catty bitches at this station forever.

No matter which station he was at, he's always made comments about the promotions department or the sales department should be doing this or doing that, and how he *could* do all of those things and make the station more money.

Years ago, after North got canned (or left) and came back on with Mac and Spiegel to address everything that happened, he talked about how Mac was wearing a path to the station manager's office to complain about what other people were doing on their shows, different things that should be done at the station, etc. Mac said North pretty much did the same thing.

Neither argued the point.

It would be hilarious if the Bears signed Mannelly back to be a long-snapper this year.
