I haven't listened to him in 5 years, but I've been missing MJH lately.

As time has gone on, its becoming more apparent that MJH was the pinnacle of Chicago sports radio. At this point, I don't think it matters much whether or not Mac is on the air.

Never caught much of Mac's Midday show anyway. But I would sometimes listen to the podcast of B&B/Mac&Spiegel transition. I always liked that. Sometimes it got tense, awkward, weird and interesting.

I've tried some of Spieges and Mannelly transition with B&B and it sucks. A couple of times Pat doesn't talk for the 15 minutes.

So I guess that's a long way of saying I miss Mac's transitions with B&B.

We're having some work done on our house and the guys were listening to some station that, I swear, played all rolling stones songs that morning. I thought did Mac pick them as the featured artist again or what? About an hour later I'm sitting having lunch and then Karn Evil 9 comes on. It's the welcome back my friends to the show that never ends We're so glad you could attend Come inside Come inside intro they used to use. It made me sad how there aren't many good shows out there or ones that I feel like I don't want to miss. I feel like they had good listeners and a good amount of audience participation. It either made it more interesting or gave me the feeling of being connected with the show. That's so lost now.

when you sit in a room with media people in general, you cant get in a word. It's kind of entertaining, as they have to top each other all the time, Pamanelly is outgunned there.

MJH was the only show I ever actively contributed to.

I drank for free all over town just dropping my nom de plume.

And then I got my ass kicked for using the phrase nom de plume.

Sports talk radio depends on talent, cohesion, and timing, as does everything. MJH was great, and so was B & B at the time. Nothing can tell us what great sports talk in 2014 would sound like. We are all just dust in the wind.

But that's the highlights and that sucks. I'd rather hear relaxed, suave, normal and interesting radio. Radio is background noise or entertainment. What I think made MJH and Carmen and Silvy so great was they were fun without the weird stress or angst. There is enough shit that goes on in life, they are suppose to be the escape from that.

I wonder what he thinks of them though. He probably thinks they are dipshits but isn't comfortable enough to say so. He's the most likable.

I don't remember that. I remember Grid, WR, and doug, so I guess that makes you like Elmhurst Steve.

I guess this is you describing your FF draft with Mac and Spiegs.

You get any info during that draft? Or is this something that needs time to pass for you to divulge?

Yeah. But sometimes those B&B-M&S transitions served as an escape the way I described them. For me, at least. Mac would often call Bernstein out Bernstein for his bullshit. Made Bernstein squirm. Bernstein avoided the confrontation (He's good at avoiding direct confrontation) but it was fun to listen to it.

Well, they also talked sports. So it was a good way to get the Score's 4 prime time talkers thoughts in 15 to 20 minutes. But I just wanted to hear Mac with B&B. Not Spiegel. And I don't care what Mannelly thinks about anything. Not even the Bears.

Transition was mostly Bernstein and Spiegel talking about I don't know what with Mac and Terry thinking listen to these fucking pussy assed dumb shits. You could not find less manly men or bigger buttmunches than Bernstein or Spiegel. Keep it, it's all stupid. I hope Mannelly succeeds. He's the most likeable at the Score right now, I wait for the moment when he tells Bernstein to shut the fuck up or Spiegel.

Mac would stew in silence a fair bit as well though. Remember when Chicago lost out on his precious Olympics?

if a tree falls in the woods while a guy is fishing with his kid/s in some northern state, does anyone really expect me to listen to spiegel and mannelly?

I would like to have heard Mac on pot everyday, without Spiegel, of course. Would have made for interesting shows.

Bored. Mannelly is new and will take time but his emotionless voice leaves me longing for Mac's gravelly voice...

This newbie unfortunately must ask:

Who is MJH?
