Goff: Don't put that on me.

Beardown: I'm not. It goes without saying.

Goff: Then why did you say it, cracker?

Beardown:

If Goff does well, the current producers have a shot to advance. They can be hosts if there is another opening. If not, Mitch and Zim won't go to the producer bullpen ever again. Joe O, Shep, Jay Z (The cracker, not the performer) and the rest of the producer lot turn their lonely eyes to Jason Goff.

Goff could end up being the Sports Talk version of the second coming of Steve Dahl, Wally Phillips, Bob Collins, and Larry Lujack all rolled into one, and it won't change the fact that every single one of the guys you mentioned (and the one you didn't mention) are absolutely, positively, 100% unlistenable. Just terrible.

Would be funny to have North back as a weekly betting guy like Mully and Hanley do with Doug.

Goff had to leave in order to get a full time gig on a short term contract. His success has no impact on those producer's futures

This

If Mitch had any faith in the other producers they would have had a chance at something by now.

LOL Goff sucks and if he and the producers are the future, then they are all in trouble.

I am still holding out hope that Meatpants gets to boot when his deal is up & Matty get the spot. Goff & Matty would be a much better show than Spiegel & Goff.

7-10 years ago that was true. I don't know if that would happen now or how it would be.

The best thing that could ever happen for the Chicago radio listening public would be for Abbatacola to be struck mute. He's the doughy Gumba fratboy version of Kerry Sayers. In the exceedingly unlikely event that he should ever have an interesting thought, he would be unable to express it intelligibly.

Other than that, he's fine.

I would imagine there are many broadcast school grads that are Chicago natives all over the country plying their craft and getting real experience somewhere. They should find them.

You keep saying that but Abbatacola is terrible and stupid.

Matt had a good thing going until Freddy Huebs sabotaged his meteoric rise on the morning show. His ceiling is probably doing a late-night, laid-back Sports And Other Crap kind of show where he's not called upon to express any original thoughts (has none) or demonstrate any eloquence (has none of that either). Get weird callers, leave 'em on the line to bullshit with them, that sort of thing. Honestly, he might be better off parlaying his years of behind-the-scenes work into a management gig in some other market like Zampillo did. I'm sure he'll get glowing letters from recommendation, just not from Bernstein -- it's not his job to help people.
