I actually have some time today to listen to the radio and it's Cowley.

Look for the alternative and it's the f'n HERD. I'm not listening to Colon Cowherd.

After some hunting, I find the WGN Plus page but the application won't load.

And I'm a dolt.

It's been a rough day already.

You're a smart man. How did it take so long for you to realize this?

I've been busy training for the Pepsi Challenge.

I feel like I would've known the difference when I was younger. Now, I'm not so sure, even though I know there is a huge difference.

Point of reference, and get button 48 ready...

In the mid 90s, I worked at a place with a JJ Peppers across the street. Every morning, a co-worker and I would go down for an orange juice. I was a Minute Maid guy. He was Tropicana.

We would bust chops about the other brand sucking, to the point where we finally had a blind taste test. We both ended up correctly picking our brand as the favorite. Turns out Minute Maid, though a Coke product (or was at the time), had more sugar.

Button 48 please.

I can't drink regular Pepsi or Coke anymore. They are both too damn sweet.

I used to really enjoy Diet Pepsi when I started going the diet soda route because I thought it tasted way more like the original than Diet Coke tasted like regular Coke. But, I've changed on that also and am exclusively a Diet Coke person as I think Diet Pepsi is also too sweet.

I wonder if age alters your taste buds that much?

And now you know my entire soda drinking history. Thanks Chicago sports radio!

I switched to Diet Rite years ago but haven't even had that in a long time. Usually don't drink pop at home. I can't even think at how much I would weigh if I did. Already fighting the battle of the double chin. It would be way worse with that sugar water in my life. Es muy malo.

Lately for me at a Jimmy John's or the like it's a mix of about 8:1 of Diet Coke (or Coke Zero) to regular Coke (just to sweeten it up a bit), but on the occasion where I drink pop at home, I am usually a Pepsi products guy.

Pepsi guy. Also, I read in Men's Health magazine that Diet Dr. Pepper was the least-bad "brown" pop you could drink. So I dabble with that as well. I need to start-up my commitment to excellence again and great cutback on the pop. Damnit.

Never heard of someone mixing sodas like that. I gave up soda several years ago and just stick to seltzer water...the no sugar variety.

I tuned in at 10:30, listened until 10:36, and if I didn't read this thread I wouldn't know who was co-hosting with Goff. I heard Kerry Sayers announce that she's pregnant, followed by one of her updates. Then Goff breathlessly read several tweets, babbled on about something, giggling most of the time he was talking, and then they went to commercial.

i still can't drink diet [whatever] cuz it just tastes wrong to me. that said, i'm not a soda guy at all but over the last few years i ended up falling for ginger ale because it was omnipresent over here and hey, that stuff is just damn good. maybe a barq's root beer here or there as a changeup, sometimes if i see the odd place with cans of RC i'll grab a couple and i'll have 1-2 sitting in the fridge for a few months otherwise beyond ginger ale it's just if i get a combo at a fast food/ish joint.

but then again it's like, man, i prefer my soda from a fountain cuz you get the ice in there and it's watered down slightly and that's something i've come to enjoy more and more with age. i think you're onto something with taste buds, tho idk if it's as much age as much as it is the time to refine your palette.

and Cowley in the background talking about "getting cut" (vasectomy). Then the poor attempt at humor...which is WAY TOO COMMON on this show....poor attempt about having Cowley performing vasectomies in the allley or something. Just fucked up. Why do I have this on/streaming at work?? For the sports is the answer....but these guys Suck. I wish they would have picked Jhood instead of Goff

I had to turn it off at a little after 11:00. This show is directionless. Spiegel said they no longer have pre-show planning meetings, which I am assuming is Goff's doing, and it really shows. A little stream of consciousness during the course of a four hour show is OK, but that's pretty much all this show is and the hosts aren't witty or interesting enough to make it work.

Goff's need to interject race into nearly everything is VERY tiresome.

Cowley's brand of hot taked-ness is better suited for radio. A columnist (as opposed to beat writer) too, and he was probably on the fast track to be the next Mariotti at the S-T until he got too dumb on Twitter. But we'd have to expertly cite more specific examples to actually say if that had an affect on his career.

Whoever said it above is right. Diet Dr. Pepper tastes closest to its original. Maybe 7up or Sprite next. I drink maybe one or two pops a week.

I will drink Diet Coke, but much prefer Diet Pepsi for the reason stated above, it taste pretty damn close to regular.

Move up to Coke Zero. It is far superior to Diet Coke. Still, the best Diet soda is Dr. Pepper

You're the second person this week that's told me I should switch to Coke Zero.

That seems too convenient to be a coincidence.

Here's #3. I really like Coke Zero. Cherry Coke Zero is good, too, but I'm not a fan of Vanilla Coke Zero. It's also not the worst thing in the world if a little bourbon happens to fall into either of them.

I found out not too long ago (and this may have been mentioned on the board before) that Diet Coke is the diet version of New Coke and Coke Zero is the diet version of original Coke.

Dr. Pepper 10 and bourbon is also quite tasty.

Yes Coke Zero is the best.

Yes I also actually like Cowley. He's a jag, but I feel his jaggyness is more likeable and listenable than Bernstein.
