What I usually see happening is that we get that one weird 75 degree day in late February and all the fat guys put on the shorts. When it goes back to 2 below the next week they just can't go back to long pants. |

I go too long on my shorts and flops/crocks/nike/etc....while I know some are going for a look, I can fully admit I am just going for the ease of slipping on shoes and going...no need to exert extra effort. Chicago closer to the lake fools you with some sunny days, but still 65 at noon and drops to 60 or less by 3 PM as you get closer to the lake. At same time, stays warmer until mid october |

Lived in a semi-tropical environment for years. When first moved back to cold weather, I'd wear shorts outside the house into December and then as early as possible in February/March for the first year or two. Mostly because my clothing supply consisted of ~3/4th shorts to ~1/4th pants. Now I only wear shorts outside the house for sports or beach/pool/etc activities. Never wear shorts outside the house to even like a BBQ or baseball game these days. Keep the shorts/towels beach/gym wear/gear in the trunk at all times. But don't wear it unless it's activity appropriate or insanely hot and I'm going to be outdoors all day, like Lollapalooza. And shower shoes? We called em that for basketball/football from 5th grade (or whatever grade we started showering after practices/games). They were shower shoes when I joined the Army. And then when I went to prison they were still shower shoes. Kidding....maybe.
