Spiegs off due to singing the night before....I am really amazed that is allowed.

If I had a guy who worked for me and he called in numerous times telling me he was too tired because he hung drywall at his other job all night...LOL.....

Well, at least this time it's somewhat tied to sports/his job as supposed to the Tributo stuff

I assume he uses a vacation day in advance of the show. If he waits until the morning to see how he feels, then yes that is pretty bad.

It's one thing if he is calling in the morning of his show to cancel.

It's a completely different situation if he takes planned time off. That's not a big deal, and shouldn't be. Just because you're aware of what he's doing the night before his day off shouldn't have any impact as long as what he's doing is legal.

It's not like WSCR agreed to give him unlimited days off like they did for Mac :-)

As no replacement is there, guessing that call came in this morning...

I didn't notice when I first tuned in. I just thought it was Jason talking all over Spiegs as they headed towards a break. Between me wondering how long it would be before hearing my first hand-clap, the phrase "hand clap" and the break. I switched stations.

Now, the lack of structure comes through. Check maybe later.

Guys - You're missing the entire sweet nugget of all this... Spiegel is gone today. Focus, boys.

Actually, not a bad gabfest today. I enjoy the Cubs/Sox thing a lot. Lots of good natured play and banter going on.

Losing grimace is a huge weight off Slappy's shoulders.

I get that people get sick, and it's unplanned often, but this scenario seems unlikely given that he was doing his show the night before (unless he lost his voice).

If he did call in sick the morning of, that would be upsetting if I were his boss since his on-air presence is required (even though they have 2 producers who could filled in for a day). I assume he normally has days off planned though

I don't really care why a person requests PTO though. I think some people here are upset (irrationally) because they know why he is taking off.

Must miss radio, and I've never heard a minute of it in the first place.

He usually takes the day off in advance.

People are really mad that he uses the vacation time that is in his contract?

The way Goof was talking at the end of the show made it sound like spiegs being gone was unexpected at least to him. Didn't he miss the day after Theo's event last year too? How are they not prepared for that?

As far as the time off thing, if he plans it in advance then it's no ones business what he does with that day but if he's calling in, which is reasonable to assume since they had no backup, dick move. Spiegel knows well enough that he's not coming in the night after singing and drinking, there's no reason a group of adults can't communicate and plan ahead. Unless he was just trying to spare us another Rozner appearance. In which case, I am grateful.

Blame Mitch, not Meatpants. Mitch lets employees do whatever the hell they want.

This abomination had made me listen to Carm and Jurko, when my schedule allows. I've always liked Ivan. Not the krazy one, however, he's an assbag.

Mac is gone now. Fatpants is still employed, however. I have no idea what made Mitch think Goff would be a good match for Spiegs. That alone is grounds for his dismissal.

I'm not sure what Goff is a match for. I don't think his match is anywhere near the radio business.

So, Goff is Zawaski with more airtime, sans giggling and table pounding and constant reminder of his street cred.

I'm actually fearing for my life right now with my criticism of the quasi-thuggish one.

Maybe that's the point. He wants to drive Grimace off.

You're the fucking iron man at the Score if you show up more often than not. The Score has cultivated the laziest work environment in the history of human kind.

Bernstein is there too much. He reminds me of Sheldon Cooper but just not funny or endearing.
