After a long battle for his life, the owners decided to put the horse down because it would have been inpossible for him to continue without significant pain.

Of course, he's been living on cloud 9 since May. No pain at all in his leg.. nope.. now is the time to euthanize him. They should have done so just after he broke his leg the past few months has been simply a cruel journey.

Anyone else think the coverage is a bit much?

Sure, it's tragic that he went through what he did, but is it really enough to be considered a lead story? I'm guessing there is at least one notable human sports figure who dies every day that doesn't get this kind of press.
