A lot of interesting matchups in round one, but I still don't have a good read on how alot of the guys are playing. Here are three underdogs I'm playing in Round One.
Round One Plays
Shingo Katayama +140 vs. Aaron Baddeley
The Japanese often do well in match play because they seem to be so straight. Good value here as Shingo is playing in his sixth straight Match Play Championship, while this is Baddleley's first time. Baddleley played well last weekend while Shingo missed the cut, giving him a few extra rounds on this new track.
Stuart Appleby +115 vs. Charles Howell III
Howell is the hottest player so far this season and I likely will be betting him quite a bit this year as this could be a big breakout year for him. However, here he might just have a little bit of a hangover after last Sunday's win..only his 2nd on the PGA Tour. Appleby has played in every Match Play championship and is a tough grinder who doesn't make many mistakes.
Clarke +128 vs. Sergio
Clarke is a great match play player. Garcia was awesome in last year's Ryder Cup, but this isn't the Ryder Cup. He is overpriced here, so I'll take the value with a former champ of this event.
