Is online poker completely illegal? Any decent sites you recommend?

I just played Texas Holden in the game Red Dead Redemption(the game liquidquadcab and Mynameismud said would just be grand theft auto on horses! Ha how fucking wrong they were!) and it was quite enjoyable, big blind, small blind, everyone playing everyone fucking hand and so on... you're just playing against the ai and there is no actual winning of real money. You can play online poker on Facebook -- Zynga has an app. Totally legal.

Oh you want to play for money? That's illegal in the United States.

But if you were to Western Union some money somewhere, a place would open up an account for you. And you could play poker, and the site probably wouldn't look much into where you are from. You take your winnings in the form of Amazon gift cards applied to your account. At least that's how I imagine it might work, were someone from the US wanting to play poker online for money.
