So long time race fans, will this 3 year old crop be considered good or mediocre?

I think this is a deep and strong group. I know there is always talk about the decline in ability based on the comparison to Beyer figures of the past, but I have to believe that is due to factors other than the horses, e.g. slower track surfaces, etc. I know we breed less classic pedigrees than ever, but just the modern drugs should make horses go faster and they don't. I don't know why the figs are lower now than they were in the 70s, but it's tough to believe the horses are that much weaker.
