Thanks Spmack. That was fun. I didn't see the game, but from what I hear NIU really blows. Dropped passes, overthrows, picks, not scoring with first and goal from the 6...oh well. It's NI freaking U. You bet on crap teams and sometimes they crap on your bet.

Another team that blows is Illinois. Mizzou has owned the Illini the last few years and now in this spot, the Illini are going in to game one at a deficit in experience overall, at the skill positions and breaking in a new QB. Washington's suspension affects the Mizzou offense to be sure, but there are horses behind him. And Gabbert is a decent QB. Illini will try to run, of course, but the Mizzou defense (all 11 have started at some point in their careers) will surely stack up to stop Leshoure and Ford. Can Scheelhaase beat them? You want to bet that a kid starting his first game will beat a veteran defense that stacks up to stop the run? You want to bet on Zook vs. Pinkel? Have at it. I'll take the other side of those propositions.

Actually feel pretty OK after today's Illinois game. They stopped running the option after Scheelhaase got hurt. The O-line = DEATH. But besides that, they were all right. This isn't a good team, but 6-6 seems doable.

Tough week. USC and ND let teams they were killing back into the games for a loss and push. Washington was beating BYU most of the game and VT was winning with 1 minute to go. With a little luck 6-9-1 would be 11-5...such is life.
