It is more conventient to keep the NIT and NCAA seperate:

Utah State +8.5 at Michigan

This is one of those classic lines you see in NIT play. A big name school with a decent record is way overpriced against a no name but very strong opponent. Coast had this one sniffed out in the NCAA section and I wholeheartedly agree with him. This should be no more than a 3 point line and they are willing to give you 8.5...and there will be many who play Michigan which may drive this up further. Grab this one.

Drexel +5.5 against NC State

This will be the 5th game in 6 days for NC State. That would be grueling for a pro and should absolutely brutal for a college team with a short bench. Drexel will be a team looking for blood after being snubbed by the NCAA. Everyone knows the Drexel story, 20+ wins, good RPI, several victories against top teams on the road, etc. Now add home court, a purpose and a name opponent. The Dragons will come out breathing fire and I don't think NC State will have the legs to make a comeback.

It is actually down to 7.5 everywhere I have looked. But I got on it when it was 8.5

I have pretty much stopped filling out brackets. Not only do I suck, I usually get further embarrassed by someone's girlfriend winning by using uniform color as her system for picking.

C'mon good dolphin. Nas will win and just think of it as a charitable donation to the kids chicago sports wardrobe.

Dolphin, I agree with you that this is a horrible situation for NC State. But we are paying a price for it. By my numbers, this line should be 2. Probably won't matter as I expect NC State to be flat, but just thought I'd point out that this situation is figured into the line.

I was a little suprised on my trip to the bowl this morning to find it at 5.5. I would have thought Drexel would have been a slight dog. Still, I have read a few analysis' of this game and no one has mentioned the 5 games in 6 days factor, and that should be huge. Even more importantly, they are coming off a highly charged run for the tournament. While they may be happy to still be playing, there is no way they will have as much energy as they did while playing for the big prize in the ACC tourney.

I heard the line is now down to 3.5, so it is quickly approaching your projection Coast.

Absolutely.

Michigan should never lay 8 unless they are playing Northwestern or Minnesota. Utah St is a pretty good team, who is happy to be playing in the NIT.

I read that the UMass players are still hurt over being snubbed. If Bama can shoot at all, they will cover, maybe win outright.

San Diego St is a very good team, 8 is too many against a very average Missouri St team.

Other than the top two, I am not sold on the MVC teams. Providence played a much tougher schedule. 7 points is a bonus.

Running with the doggies tonight, maybe a small ML play on Bama and Utah State

I won't play NC State. If I can find Drexel at anything less than 4 I'm on it like white on rice.

NIT: 0-1

Hofstra +10
Not sure if ole Grampa Jerry will be awake for this one. Hell, his team might not even be awake. This game may be in DePaul's gym, but they apparently haven't even gotten enough interest to fill the little gym up. Hofstra is used to playing in cracker boxes like this one. Besides, these guys can score inside and outside. So can DePaul, of course, but you never know what you're going to get with the Blue Demons. Double digits is a lot to lay for such an inconsistent team.

I got healthy on 3 dogs (East Tennessee, Fresno State and San Diego State) and one favorite (Bradley). I needed a steal with under 10 seconds left to cut the lead to 10 to cover the 10.5 in Georgia-Fresono State. Then I neede overtime to cover the 5.5 in Bradley-Providence. I'm not from the Emerald Isle but St. Patrick gave me the luck of the Irish to cover those.

While everyone is looking at the the NCAA there is some good NIT tonight.

West Virginia -5.5 at home against UMASS

I love playing the Mountaineers at home. A lot of their success has to do with good three point shooting and home games are a great place to get healthy. I think the A-10 is overrated this year and UMass struggled at home against a battered Alabama team.

I like Marist tomorrow. The line is currently at +7. I think the public is gonna catch on to NC St after covering 5 straight tourney games. I will wait though, the number could rise.

Bradley vs. Mississippi State over 80 ( 2nd half )

Neither team could shoot and they scored 82 in the first half. If a few shots drop they could score 90 in the second half.

Monday Night
Air Force -5 vs. Georgia
Classic matchup of a team that wants to play uptempo vs. a team that will eat clock and run you to death through screens on defense. Does Georgia really have what it takes to defend the Force? I have my doubts. AF had some real clunkers late, but they were against teams that were familiar with them. These Georgia kids have never seen anything like what they are going to see Monday night in Colo. Springs.

9-5 NIT

already on:

Ole Miss +6
San Diego St +7
Air Force -5

adding:
Kansas State -5

Home team with the better coach looks like the right play here. DePaul has burned me many times with lethargic offense and lazy defense.

Big money is coming in on DePaul. I don't know why, but it's a red flag to me. Not saying the big money is sharp, just saying. Public is on KState (73%) but line moving south. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.

Right. When ever money goes on a team and moves the line the rule is to go with the book. I hope that's the case tonight.
