Tonight in the Oceanside Stakes I like the 2 Bird Is the Word. Switching to Hall of fame jockey Gary Stevens. He will lay back and then cut the corner around the stretch. |

The Spa opens this weekend too. It doesn't deserve a thread? Or are we waiting for the return of Irish Boy? |

I'm planning on visiting all the classic tracks over the next couple of years except the three I've been to: Arlington, Churchill Downs, and Keeneland. So far my list is Saratoga, Aqueduct, Pimlico, Hiahleah, Del Mar. Others? |

Hialeah only has fake racing these days. |

I forgot about Santa Anita today, but it was on my original list.I am less familiar with Gulfstream other than that they seem to be perpetually simucasting Gulfstream and Santa Anita for thoroughbreds. #4 Sorry Erik in the 6th today at Del Mar with my guy, Kent Desormeaux, aboard. This is an improving horse with good late speed, having put up a plus 100 figure in the Ohio Derby. The effort was wasted because of the strong field, led by Irap. He's against easier competition today in this 1 1/8 mi. allowance race and is back home in CA. The one question is whether the horse is as strong on turf as he is on dirt. I like Sorry Erik with #10 Fashion Business. |

Watch for #5 Rattataptap in the 8th at Woodbine. 15/1 on the M/L, but projects stronger. |

I have that promo where my first bet at Del Mar or Saratoga is 20-1 odds up to $5. I don't know what to do. |

I guess Arrogate didn't get his oats today. |

Post subject: | Re: Del Mar Opening Week |
That didn't happen. Arrogate looked a little limp, but Mike Smith, what are you doing six back in this 1 1/16 mi. race?? Simply terrible. Only a front runner was gonna take it, and that was Accelerate. That sucks if you took him, Hockey Gay. He was only the best horse in the world going into this race, having won 7 straight. |

He's never finished in front of Accelerate. |

Post subject: | Re: Del Mar Opening Week |
Watching the replay, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Arrogate had some type of heart arrhythmia during the race. Baffert will act as if it was just nature at work rather than discuss the possible causes. |

Post subject: | Re: Del Mar Opening Week |
Also, Denman's call was idiotic. You could see that Arrogate was in trouble after a quarter mile. And he's calling, "Mike Smith and Arrogate comfortable at the back." The horse was anything but comfortable. His ears were pinned straight back on his head. |
