So I've never bet on baseball and don't really know how it works. I hear the numbers thrown around (-130, etc) but haven't a clue what they mean. Could someone post a remedial primer on it (or post a link to one)? |

a line of -130 means that you have to risk 130 to win 100 a line of +120 means that you have to risk 100 to win 120 a team with a - is the favorite, a team with the + is the dog |

And in betting totals, you might see numbers like Team A vs. Team B 8.5 o15 Team C vs. Team D 10 u 20 If you wanted to bet the total in Team A vs. Team B, you would need to lay $115 to win $100 for over 8.5 total runs scored in the game. If you want to bet the under in that game, you would bet $100 to win $105. If you want to bet the under 10 runs scored in Team C vs. D, you need to bet $120 to win $100. If you want to bet the over in that game, you would risk $100 to win $110. There also are run lines you can bet in baseball. This means you are betting a team -1.5 runs or +1.5 runs. The difference is typically 70-90 dollars from the straight line. For example, the straight line for today's As-White Sox game is: Oakland -160; Chisox +150. But you can also bet either team on the run line. You can bet the favorite Oakland minus 1.5 runs for +130. Or you can bet the underdog White Sox You plus 1.5 runs for - 140. |

Thanks guys. I can't say that I'll ever take a chance on baseball, but at least I have a better idea of what everyone else is talking about! |
