Finally a decent betting race. The Haskell was pretty bad without Justify. Really a shame that Baffert tried to bring him back but couldn't because of lingering physical issues. The loss makes the whole 3 year old crop a lot less interesting. I had Bravazo in the Haskell, who was the only horse that stood a chance against Good Magic, but even he had bad odds at 5-1. Place wasn't worth it for a measly $4.00 paid.

I see Walt's, McCracken, is back for this one. But it seems like his form has been declining as a 4 year old. Hasn't hit the board in graded stakes races. Diversify is the obvious choice, but there are other good horses in this field. If Diversify has a weakness, it's his consistency. Mind Your Biscuits is more reliable. What stands out about Mind Your Biscuits is his winning percentage adjusted for stakes, which is by far the best in the field. Plus, my guy, Rosario, has the mount, who won this race in 2016 with Frosted. However, not a lot of value there with a 2-1 M/L price. It doesn't bother me it's his first try at two turns, when he's the fastest horse in the field. I might go with Biscuits and Pletcher trained, Tapwrit. His performance in the last year's Belmont shows he should have no problem with the 1 1/8 mi. distance in the Whitney. I would bet against Diversify in this race.

I think this one comes down to Good Samaritan and Backyard Heaven.

Spectacular race in the 5th at Saratoga, the 100K Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at 1m on the turf. #1 Uni, who was last on the back stretch, came 6 wide from the far turn to run down the odds favorite, Precieuse, by a neck in a thrilling finish. Irad Ortiz gets the win, Chad Brown was the trainer.
