I like Mayweather and the under.. thoughts?

I'm taking Mayweather also. I believe this is the final exclaimation mark on his career. A win here and he goes down as one of the top 5 pound for pound fighters of all time. Think De la Hoya is just looking to cash a check.

I'm reading and listening. Appreciate all your thoughts. I'll be on something in this bout for sure. I'm not plunking down the $60 to see the action and not have action.

i really want De La Hoya to win.
but, i have a feeling that Mayweather is going to tire Oscar. i'd be surprised to see a knockout either way.

You like the under, Matt? Here is one man's opinion (not mine) on the over. I'm not endorsing this, just offering it up for consideration and discussion.

We have seen in big fights in the lower weight classes that both fighters fight cautious fights, for lackof a better word "afraid" to make a big mistake on this stage. Oscar's previous mega-events against top-notch pros have all ended in decisions with the exception of Vargas(no D) , who lasted into round 11. Even Trinidad who was at the time seen as a devastating knockout puncher easily went the distance.

Both fighters are natural counterpunchers as opposed to attacking, pace-setting fighters like a Pacquiaio or a Trinidad. Mayweather doesn't go for knockouts as he couldn't even get close to knocking out Baldomir, the human punching bag. Expect a lot of clock to be burned up in the first 2 or 3 rounds as the fighters measure the distance and speed of the other guy. The middle rounds will be fighters setting traps for each other after the feel-out process.

Expect a slow-tactical fight between two fighters who will rely on thier basic fundamentals to try to win a decision, which in this fight is a s good as a spectacular knockout against a lesser fighter. Both fighters have GREAT boxing fundamentals which will come into play as fatigue and/or instinct sets in. I say instinct in the sense of a fighter possibly getting stunned by a punch and sustaining a concussion which in boxing results in a fighter "blacking-out" and fighting on instinct. I.E. Trinidad against Hopkins round 11. He was out on his feet at the end of the 10th. Also, Meldrick Taylor in the last round minus the last 15 seconds. He was NAILED by a solid uppercut at the end of ummmmmm either 11 or 10 and couldn't even find his own corner.

The pride of Mayweather. We KNOW that on Mayweathers end, he WANTS a decision. On Oscar's end, should he badly hurt Floyd, Floyd would rather turn his back and run circles around the ring than get dropped and/or stopped.

In the end either man will take a win any way the can get it. I dont expect either guy to go out there and lay it out on the line to get a knockout. Plus we know if we get a controversial decision, they get another massive payday. A knockout ends the story and forces the winner to find another opponent. And no one is out there to make anywhere NEAR the kind of money they'd get for a rematch.

As far as cuts or DQ neither guy has shown a propensity to cut or go dirty. It was actually good what happened in the Judah fight in the 10th because Floyd's crazy trainer Roger knows that if he does something stupid, he gets a lifetime ban in Nevada.
