Separating this by race

SA 4 1-FILLY AND MARE SPRINT

Covfefe is a fine horse, getting a lot of attention and I’m hoping a lot of action, because she is going down. She is on the wrong end of her form cycle and facing older Mares and Fillies; she is ripe for an upset. Question is which one? 4-Come Dancing makes sense, since 12/18 she’s finished 1st or 2nd in 6 G-stakes races. I think the pace will heat up in the backstretch a leave the door open for someone off the pace, and that horse is the 8-Dawn the Destroyer…she’s been running with a lot of these same gals and while in the money, no 1st…I think she has a chance turn the tables at a big price…seven of the last ten winners in this race prepped at Keeneland (2, 8, and 9)

SA R6 3-DIRT MILE

This will probably be a single for me with the 5-Omaha Beach, a horse I’ve loved this horse all year and is in a great spot to win here. The 1-Giant Expectations also will make it onto my ticket in what should be a formful race. I kinda like the horse from Korea the 8-Blue Chipper. He is the train from Bosan (If you have never seen it, check out the Korean Zombie movie Train to Busan)

SA R6 3-FILLY AND MARE TURF

historically very chalky…Euro’s ITM quite a bit (16/24 last 8 yrs) but not necessarily winners…horses prepped in California horses are 0-44 in this race…that is not good.

The 2-Sistercharlie (Chad Brown who has won this race 4x’s) has used the 6-Thais as a “rabbit” and will do so again. The 2 will be very difficult to beat and may be the best bet of the weekend. However she’ll be cheap and there may be some others to work in, most notably the 7-Vasilika who has been ITM in 7 tries this year all graded stakes. More important, the 7 is 12/11-1-0 here at Santa Anita. Talk about a horse for the course. The 10-Miss Sippy challenged the favorite a couple weeks ago at Belmont and lost by less than a length. I think Joel Rosario is a very smart and talented rider, and may have figured out a way to break down Sistercharlie…the 5-Mirth drew my attention because she is coming off a victory here at this distance in G1 race and gets Mike Smith who has 26 BC wins, next in line is Johnny Velazquez who only has 16.

The Euros were shutout yesterday but that may change…the 1-Iridessa fits with wins in Group 1 and certainty at the distance…I’ve seen some chatter about 4-Billesdon Brook (she beat the 1 last time out)…but the connections you should always be wary of is Franki D. and John Gosden who bring the 12-Fanny Logan. She gets Lasix 1st time and should have no issues with the post. The 8-Castle lady is coming off a major performance finishing 2nd at Keeneland.

Picks 2-7-10/5-12-8

I think Coal Front has a chance to go wire to wire in the Dirt Mile and Elate has a big shot in the Classic.

There were definitely issues with the track. A lot of horses just didn't handle the dirt course. The grass was speed favoring both days. The most impressive horse I saw all weekend was Uni. Nobody else was able to make a move anywhere close to that on that turf course.
