You're up 2+ scores on a team; your defense generally has its foot on the opponents offense. It's either late in the 1st half or start of 2nd half, in other words, momentum shifting time of game. What's a way for your down-by-2+ scores opponent to get up off the mat and gain some positive momentum? Let's kick it where they can return it, let's see what their return team has in 'em:

I don't get, I don't get it, I don't get it.

I kinda get Kyle Shanahan doing it, cuz Shanahan loves to piss away 2nd half leads. But it's like an epidemic in football. Titans HC did it for the Bears in Week 1. Up 2 scores and kicked a returnable ball. And now WKU and SF back to back in the space of like 2 minutes.

SF up 23-3 kicks a returnable ball and Seahawks take it to the house. Now what looked like a cake-walk to a W at 23-3 is suddenly 23-17--Seattle's comeback ignnited by the kick-off return TD that it was a no-brainer for SF to never put the kick off in a returnable spot.

Same for WKU: from 27-7 to 27-17 after the completely unnecessary kickoff ret TD by UTEP and UTEP follows it up with an unanswered FG.
