Post subject: | Pick Winners CFB, NFL Week 15 |
This weekly wagering contest will reward the best football prognosticator with a $100 gift certificate from a meat/steak company. New guys can still join in any time and you don't have to make a pick every week. You can post your plays any time, but they must be posted before a game you are playing kicks off. You must make your picks in this thread and you must provide at least one reason for each pick. Minimum 50 picks to qualify by the end of the contest. ***Note: There are 3 weeks left of NFL regular season games. The final week of the contest will be college only, Jan.1-Jan.7. The final game is the beatdown of the Luckeyes at the hands of the very deep Tigers of LSU, who is down to -4 from a -5 1/2 open from what I see. I actually went 5-7, not 5-6, and my yearly record is 172-170-9. |

Texans +1 Texans win at home against inconsistant Broncos. Bengals -8.5 Bengals offense too much for Niners. Cardinals +3.5 Cards are slightly better than the Aints. Bucs -13.5 Falcons couldn't beat Aints at home, won't beat Bucs on road. Browns -5.5 Browns have a chance to tie for 1st in North with a win. Patriots -23.5 Jets have no chance. Colts -10.5 Raider have no chance. Lions +10 Lions showed life against Cowboys, who are much better than the Chargers. Cowboys -10 Eagles have no chance in Dallas. |

Not that it really matters, but I believe I was 8 - 7 last week (I picked Washington for the Thursday night game). Being over .500 (for a week)would really boost my morale . |

Texans +1 against Broncos Changing my position on this. Rosenfels has played well and Denver has been a poor road team. The public is backing Denver to the point that Texas is now a home dog, which I always like on Thursday night. 49ers +8 against Bengals I am holding my nose and taking this. This seems contrary to everyone but Chus. I agree with his reasoning though. The Bengals have really not been good this year and they are on the road in a prime time game. Watch for Gore to go off tonight. Bears +10.5 at Vikings The Bears are not good. At the same time, with all the injuries, they have only lost by double digits once, against the Cowboys. At the same time the Vikings have been doing well against a soft schedule, and have relied on defensive TDs to pull away from teams. Vasher and Tillman will cause 2 fumbles, Hester will return one and the beloved will straight up win. ARRRF! Coast always said that only the elite teams cover more than 7 points at a great rate. The Vikings are not an elite team. |

Thanks for the help guys. I try to get it right since being wrong means going and editing the numbers. There are still 160 plays (spreads and totals) to be made. 96 NFL and 64 CFB. Still plenty of time to get below 45% . New players or existing ones with different monikers only need to go 35-15 to qualify with the 50 pick minimum to get Mitch Cumsandra's 70% clip. Good luck with all that. |

Cardinals and Saints over 49- The Saints could lose this game and for the Cardinals to win, they will need to score in the 30's. Buccanneers-12.5 vs Falcons- THe Bucs clinch the division with a dominating performance. Jaguars +3.5 vs Steelers- The Jaguars need to prove they are for real with a good showing here. Seahawks -9 vs Panthers- The only way this isn't a cover is if the Seahawks feel they have the playoffs clinched and it doesn't matter to them if they are a 3 or 4 seed. Chargers -10 vs Lions- I think the Chargers are making their playoff run here and after a tough loss for the Lions last week, just put the needle in them. Redskins +4.5 vs Giants- Redskins still need the game and COllins didn't look too bad last week. |

From WSEX Miami +3.5 vs Baltimore Dolphins find a way to get their first victory Buffalo +5.5 @ Cleveland Bad weather keeps this game low scoring and tight. NY Jets +21 @ New England Despite the bad blood, the weather too keeps this one closer than it should be. Indy -10.5 @ Oakland Indy juggernaut continues as they wrap up the #2 seed in the AFC. Vikings -10 vs Bears Orton won't be enough to stop a Vikings team looking to secure a wild card spot. |
