The Cubs also signed right fielder Kosuke Fukudome who came with a lot of excitement. They have a strong starting rotation behind Carlos Zambrano, Ted Lilly, Rich Hill, Jason Marquis and Jon Lieber. The Cubs also possess one of the stronger bullpens with Bob Howry, Jose Ascanio, Scott Eyre, Michael Wuertz, Ryan Dempster and Carlos Marmol who will be given every opportunity to win the closers job this spring. Kerry Wood is also lurking out there as a possible closer. The oddsmakers have the Cubs favored to win the NL Central again at +105, +645 to win the National League pennant and +1815 to win the World Series.
