Pick 4 games a week in college football.

Week 1
STU-GOTZ
I like Duke getting 6.5 at home against the Cats. NU blows on the road and struggle every year against Bernsteins Dukies.

This is the early blue plate special of the year. East Carolina getting 8 vs. West Virgina at home. Is this a misprint.? Take ECU and the points.

I love the over in the Florida vs Miami game at 51.5.

And I like the under in the Memphis vs. Rice tilt at 65.5.

Coast2Coast
I'm going against four favorites I consider to be "soft":

New Mexico +2.5 vs. Texas A&M
Texas A&M lost to who? And not only did they lose, they were dominated. Sherman had desultory Packers teams and now he might have another one right here. Home dog #1.

Washington +9 vs. BYU
Huskies have a solid QB and a run game, which is what I like to see in a dog. BYU is going to be one of the best teams in the MWC, but they gave up a lot of yards and was kind of sloppy vs. I-AA Northern Iowa. Now they go on the road to Seattle, where the Huskies usually play pretty well. Huskies were beaten badly, but it was at Oregon, which is no disgrace. Home dog #2.

Buffalo +13.5 @ Pittsburgh
Fade Wanny. Wanny's boys lost at home to Bowling Green. Buffalo is a middling MAC team, but is showing some signs of life. I think they can hang here against one of the most under-achieving, poorest-coached teams in football.

Georgia Tech +7 @ BC
Tech has former Navy coach Johnson and they are running the triple option. That's a tough defense to prepare for. And on offense, BC is in total rebuild mode. I will even buy a smidge on the moneyline here.

Stu gets a push with his three day old stale line on Iowa. And I get an ass raping with Stanford, first and goal from the 7 with under a minute left, going in to score a TD that was only meaningful to cover instead of taking kneel downs to run out the clock. I guess this evens out the gift I got last week from that Iowa safety. Stuff happens.

Plays for Sept. 27
Season Record: 8-4

Marshall +14 @ West Virginia
You know how I like going against soft favorites and this WVU team makes too many mistakes and sure looks pretty soft to be laying 2 tuddies to their intra-state rival.

Northwestern +9 @ Iowa
Cats have played Hawks tough lately. This is the game we'll find out if NU's defense is Big Ten ready. Fortunately for them, they're playing a team with very erratic QB play.

Minnesota +17.5 @ Ohio State
Buckeyes certainly have the talent to explode on somebody like Minnesota. And with Pryor at QB and Wells back, they certainly could. But the Gophers look like they can put some points on the board too.

Kent State +18 @ Ball State
Danny Mac's and David Letterman's alma mater is a nice team with an impressive passing game...and Kent blows, particularly on defense. But this is a bad spot for the MacLettermans. The red-clad boys from Muncie are coming off the biggest win in years beating their Big Ten in-state big brother IU, which makes their season. Plus, their best player was injured and is out for the year, had neck/spinal injury and is done playing football. It's a doubly perfect situation for a bunch of kids to be flat playing a team that they know they should beat just by looking at the lines in the newspaper. Kent can run the ball, which tends to shorten games and keeps running dogs in the game.

STU-GOTZ
Season Record: 5-6-1

Here are my picks this week ..

USC has had trouble with the Beavers for years and 25.5 is a lot wood for a home dog so take some Beaver and who would't in this match up.

Central Michigan has played some pretty good teams on the road in Georgia and Purdue and should of beat Purdue and hung with the Dawgs for a half are a 6 point fav at home against Buffalo.Take the Chips minus the 6.

Auburn is coming off a huge loss at home to LSU and I hate to take teams after a tough loss but Tennessee looked out macthed at home against the GATORS.Take Auburn minus the 6.5...

Maze and Blue has looked lost it's first few games under Rick Rodriguez and the Badgers and their running game are coming to bitch slap the maze and blue this week. Take Buckey Badger minus the 6 in Ann arbour .

dumb question here but what does the pct have to be to be a winner in regards to betting real $$$$? I thought it was 55%.

53% is needed to make a profit. Anyone claims to win over 60% over a long period of time is probably full of shit.

Week 8 Plays

Coast2Coast
Wake Forest/Miami Florida Under 42 W
Wake has really struggled to score lately and Miami has too when playing real defenses or when not getting fluke scores.

Oklahoma/Kansas State Under 71 L
KSU really sucks on offense. If OU doesn't get to 45 in this road game against a respectable KSU defense, I'll feel pretty good about this one.

Virginia Tech/Florida State Under 44 L
VT is horrendous offensively. And FSU can be bad too against good defenses. The jump ball passing game won't work against a Beamer defense.

Penn State -2½ @ Ohio State W
This might be the ONLY time I bet a road favorite all year. I was wrong against OSU last week, but the stats didn't match the score. Call me unconvinced with the Tressels. PSU is the best Big Ten team by my eyes.

Week 8: 2-2
Season: 18-12-2

STU-GOTZ
Ohio State +2.5 vs. Penn State L
Break out the sweater vests tomorrow night in Columbus as OSU will beat the diaper wearing Joe Pa so take OSU +2.5.

Oklahoma State +12.5 @ Texas W
The Cowboys of OSU seem to have the longhorns number and I'll take the 12.5 the Cowboys are getting and run with it.

Northwestern -8 @ Indiana L
I like the Wildcats to struggle early at IU but pull away late and win by 10 or more so take the Cats minus the 8.

LSU -1.5 vs. Georgia L
LSU is only a 1.5. fav at home and their defense steps up and pounds the dogs. Take LSU minus the 1.5.

Week 8:1-3
Season: 11-20-1

Author:  Coast2Coast [ Thu Oct 30, 2008 11:28 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: STU-GOTZ vs. Coast2Coast

Week 9

STU-GOTZ
Illinois -2-1/2 vs. Iowa W
Take the Zooker minus 2.5 against Vinnie's Hawkeye's.

Minnesota -7 vs. Northwestern L
The Gophers only giving the Cats 7 is a gift. Pound this game and load up on the Gopher.

Central Michigan +2-1/2 @ Indiana W
I like Central Michigan getting the 2.5 at Indiana

Texas Tech +4 vs. Texas W
I like the horns to be in battle with Tech this weekend and Im torn with the Horns giving 4 as this might come down to a field goal either way but how long can the Horns keep this up????? Coin flip and I'll take Tech plus the 4.

Week 9: 3-1
Season: 14-21-1 (40%)

Coast2Coast
Arkansas +7 vs. Tulsa W
Tulsa is 1 in offense in the land and beats up its CUSA brethren, but then CUSA is the worst defensive conference in the nation. Laying wood at an SEC school that has faced tougher competition every week than Tulsa has faced once. Gotta take that gambit.

Baylor +21 vs. Missouri W
Most underrated team in the Big 12 at home getting three TDs from the most overrated team in the conference. Take.

Nebraska +21-1/2 vs. Oklahoma L
Sure OU could score 45 or 50. But they can give up 30 plus also.

Florida State - Georgia Tech UNDER 42 L
Back to the well with an ACC under involving GT or FSU. This time, both of them. Good defenses that should match up pretty well with the offenses. FSU has had a few high scoring games lately, but they have been getting points off TOs and big plays. GT isn't a team to give either of those.

Week 9: 2-2
Season: 20-14-2 (59%)
