Everybody pick a driver each week. Nobody picks the same guy, picking is first come first served. The thread will be posted weekly AFTER QUALIFYING. Then, starting with the first Chase race at New Hampshire, the posters shall be assigned to the driver corresponding in the NEXTEL CUP standings. They keep this driver for the duration of the Chase. The players will also get to pick a driver out of the Chase to make things more interesting. And rack up the points for the championship. For the second driver picked each week, you cannot pick one of the leftover chase drivers. The chase drivers not picked are effectively dead to us. Until they wreck out your guy and then you'll wish they were someplace else. Standings Pts. For the record, Juan Pablo Montoya thought he won the Pole for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Kansas but was disqualified when NASCAR officials detected a problem with the rear shock absorbers on his #42 Havoline Dodge. Jimmie Johnson & the #48 Lowe's Chevy was awarded the pole as a result of JPM's violation, and sent his #42 Havoline Dodge to the back of the pack, starting 42nd. As for my non-Chase driver, this is getting tough to find a driver least likely to take the checkered flag. If he's available, I'll take a chance with David Ragan & the #6 Triple AAA Ford Fusion Sunday at Kansas. |

Who knew Tony Stewart and Martin Truex Jr. would crap the bed? I'm glad I don't actually gamble. I'm not kiddin' anybody. |

Aside from this contest, I really thought Kyle Busch was going to be a big time player in this chase, but talk about crapping the bed. |

The end of that race was great. I loved how Edwards said he tried that move in video games and it works. |

Yeah it was a great ending. I love how Edwards races, and I hope he goes on to win the championship. I am tired of the 48. |

After winning 8 races before the "Chase for the Cup", Kyle Busch & his 18 M&M's Toyota is all but out of it now. While many NASCAR Sprint Cup fans are happy that Kyle is really struggling since the Chase began, Jimmie Johnson and his #48 Lowe's Chevy not only won the race at Kansas yesterday, but Jimmie supplanted Carl Edwards and the #99 Office Depot Ford into the overall points lead as NASCAR heads back to Talladega for the AMP Energy 500 Sunday. I'm not sure how thrilled fans are that the defending two-time Champion is now in position for a potential three-peat. Jimmie's been the only member of Rick Hendrick Motorsports that has really done anything of significance since they started using the "Car of Tomorrow" full time this season on the Sprint Cup circuit. |

Why are they qualifying so late this week? |

Baby McNown wrote: Why are they qualifying so late this week? There is a lot of things happening at Talladega this weekend. Arca Re/Max race was yesterday. It takes about 3 minutes per driver to qualify. Times 45 drivers and you've got yourself a trhee hour endeavor. Were two practice sessions yeasterday. The NASCAR powers that be try to have qualifing at about the same time as the race. I'll have the Talladega thread up when qualifing is over. http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/ GO KENNY WALLACE! |
