Thursday from pinnacle sports

Wake Forest -2.5 vs Clemson- The loser of this game is in for a long season after the preseason predictions, and for 5 straight weeks the underdog has not only covered but won straight up, I think it ends Thursday as Wake shows it has the stronger team.

Week 7 Top 25 Rundown

Today's Game

Clemson +1 1/2 @ Wake Forest

Thursday night games have provided some excitement this season: Four ranked teams have lost to unranked opponents. Clemson was idle last Saturday, giving it nearly two weeks to dwell on that defeat to Maryland. Drippy sky may keep the scoring low, the total is 42.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Texas +7 @ Oklahoma
AT DALLAS TX

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa Nellie! Colt Cabana with help from his pals will stay within a TD. The Sooners, though, have won the last three games when both teams were ranked in the top 5, most recently a 12-0 victory in 2004.

Oklahoma State @ Missouri -14 1/2

Yet another Big 12 slobberknocker! The total for the game is 80(!). Chase Daniel will get the ball enough to put away the Fighting I'm A Man I'm Forty's!

LSU +6 @ Florida

LSU has won four of the last six meetings, but Florida leads 28-23-3 in the all-time series. Bye week will serve LSU well in The Swamp. Tebow may be headless by the end of the game.

Penn State -6 @ Wisconsin

The Badgers are desperate for a conference win, hoping to avoid an 0-3 start in the Big Ten.
Look for Badger RB PJ Hill to run wild, but the PSU passing game is too much for Wisc. to handle.

Nebraska @ Texas Tech -20 1/2

Cornshuckers still can't sit down after the spanking last week to Mizzou. The last time the Huskers visited Lubbock, the Red Raiders hung 70 on them. The total for this game is 71. Nebraska is the last team to play its first road game.

Arizona State @ USC -28 1/2

ASU's defense is improved from a year ago, but it's offense has sputtered. The Sun Devils are 82nd in scoring offense. ASU QB is hurt and RB's are bad. USC QB may be nicked up too, but the Trojans will prevail heavily.

New Mexico @ Brigham Young -22 1/2

BYU is 42-14-1 against New Mexico, including 21-5 at home. Sloppy track won't slow down the Cougars. New Mexico won't be able to use ground game being behind more than two TD's.

Tennessee @ Georgia -12

Georgia will be looking for a little revenge against Tennessee on Saturday. The Volunteers have won the last two meetings against the Bulldogs, as well as their last two visits to Athens.
Georgia has won nine of its last 10 games when coming off an open week. The Volunteers have averaged 10.3 points over their last three games.

Purdue @ Ohio State -19

Luckeyes will win and fail to inspire. And finally cover at home.

Vanderbilt -2 1/2 @ Mississippi State

The Commodores are shooting for their best start in 80 years. A win over the Bulldogs will give Vandy the longest SEC winning streak in school history. MSU is trying to halt a three-game slide. Bulldog struggle to get double digits. The total for this game is 38(!).

Utah -23 1/2 @ Wyoming

While the Utes allowed a season-high 28 points to Oregon State last week, things should be easier with the Cowboys. Wyoming is averaging just 9 points a game. Yet another sloppy track, Lo: 26°F,Hi: 39°F,Precip: 50%. Utah will roll and maintain their BCS dreams.

Boise State @ Southern Miss +10 1/2

After opening its Conference USA schedule 0-2 for the first time in its 13 years in the league, Southern Miss is seeking its first win over a ranked team since 2003. It's lost six straight against Top 25 opponents. Southern Miss RB Damion Fletcher makes plays and keeps his team close.

Colorado @ Kansas -14

The Jayhawks needed a furious rally to beat Iowa State last week while the Buffs were trounced by Texas. Colorado won its first three games this year but now is looking to avoid its third consecutive loss. The Buffs didn't impress at home and don't expect them to show up in Lawrence.

Arkansas (2-3, 0-2 SEC)
(20) Auburn (4-2, 2-2 SEC)

Notre Dame (4-1, 0-1 away)
(22) North Carolina (4-1, 1-1 ACC)

(23) Michigan St (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten)
Northwestern (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten)

(25) Ball St (6-0, 3-0 MAC)
Western Kentucky (2-4, 1-0 home)

Penn State -6 over Wisconsin
-That team is loaded, and Wisconsin is good but not great.

Iowa -6 over Indiana
-James Hardy is gone(who was an Iowa killer), and Iowa will look to get some revenge for recent losses to Indiana.

Michigan State -1.5 over Northwestern
-Javon Ringer continues to tear up defenses and MSU controls the time of possession.

I've wondered ever since you started doing this, how many people are actually posting reasons for their picks? And are you indeed disqualifying the picks of people who don't provide reasons? Just curious.

All that being said, here's a template for my picks the rest of the year.

Hawkeye Vince back in action for Week 6

Colorado @ Kansas over 54 - both teams can score and neither wants to play defense. Expect a shootout in lawrence. (LOSS)

Eastern Michigan @ Army UNDER 48 - With the army option attack, this becomes a clock game. EMU has struggled to put points on the board this year and I expect this to continue at West Point. (WIN)

Utah -23 @ Wyoming Wyoming has been horrendous this year, averaging less than 10 points of offense per game. That's not good considering the 6-0 utes come to town, scoring on average 37 ppg. (WIN)

From thegreek.com:

Georgia (-12) over Tennessee
The Volunteers struggled at home against NIU last week. Georgia will be looking to make a statement at home.

Missouri (-14) over Oklahoma State
I'm on the Tigers bandwagon until someone throws me off.

Oklahoma (-6) over Texas
The Sooners will look to show everyone that they are indeed the Number 1 team in the nation.

Michigan (-16) over Toledo
The Wolverines look for redemption at home and get back on the winning track in a big way.

Chicago (-3) over Atlanta
I usually don't bet on the Bears, but I think they win big over the rookie-led Falcons.

NY Jets (-7) over Cincinnati
Without Carson Palmer, the Bengals have no chance. Favre has another big day.

Post subject:  Re: Pick Winners CFB, NFL Week 6

The big Saturday from Pinnacle Sports

Indiana +5 vs Iowa- Iowa hasn't looked good lately and IU at home, I will go with the Hoosiers and the points.

Michigan State -1 vs Northwestern- Michigan State's Ringer will get back to the good running game and Hoyer is starting to play well.

Oklahoma State and Missouri over 77- This game will be a scoring fest and both of these teams could get in the 40's.

Arizona State +28.5 vs USC- Before the season started, this would be the big Pac 10 game, I for some reason think the Sun Devils have looked forward to this game, Sanchez may be out, so I could see the Sun Devils keep this game at about a 20 point loss.

LSU +6.5 vs Florida- I think LSU wins this game, the Gators don't look right this season, Tebow is not up to heisman performance, and I like the Tigers.

From Oddsmaker or SBG

Illinois -12 over Minnesota

Favorite has covered last 7 in series. Line a little high due to Illini win at Michigan but I think Illinois wins by 14+.

Arizona -7 over Stanford

Visitor 12-2 ATS in series. Arizona D one of the best in the country.

San Jose St -13.5 over Utah St

SJST is a moneymaker at home, 12-1 ATS last 13.

LSU +6.5 over Florida

I think this a FG game. Road dog is 14-4 ATS in series.

Northern Ill -11 over Mia Ohio

NIU has either lost by a few or won by a bunch. Only 2nd home game for NIU. I think they win by a bunch.

New Mexico +23.5 over BYU

Road team 6-0 ATS in series.

South Carolina -2.5 over Kentucky

SC should be a 7 pt fav in this one. Kentucky losing to a flat Alabama team by 3 last week gives some good line value. Spurrier has never lost to Kentucky.

Cincy -7 over Rutgers

Rutgers 0-4 ATS at Cincy. Rutgers a little down from the last couple years.

All Lines Greek, unless noted

SATURDAY
Texas +7 vs. OU (Bookmaker)
Blue horseshoe.

Notre Dame +8.5 @ UNC
Green value.

Baylor -4.5 vs. Iowa Straight
you still can't say Baylor aloud, but whispering is ok.

Cincinnati - 7 vs. Rutgers
the media love for schiano just won't die.

Penn State/Wisconsin under 47
grinder with cheese.

Miami FLorida -17 vs. UCF
speed kills.

SUNDAY
Baltimore Ravens +4 vs. Indy
Would this be the line if Sage Rosenfels didn't gift the Colts last week? Neither the Colts' O or D have the stats of their W/L record.

San Diego Chargers -4.5 vs. New England
Pats are overRATED. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Last week's results give us line value.

Arizona Cardinals +5 vs. Dallas
Cowboys defense is what will ultimately do them in. Warner can exploit it.

6 point Teaser (-110)
New Orleans -1/2 & NY Giants -1-1/2
Basic strategy teaser.

Post subject:  Re: Pick Winners CFB, NFL Week 6

From The Greek:

NCAA

Over 47 Northwestern/Mich St.

Expect a lot of offense in Evanston this afternoon.

Stanford +7 vs Arizona

Good value for a Cardinal team playing at home.

LSU +6 @ Florida

Look for the Tigers to win this game outright.

Purdue +18 1/2 @ Ohio State

Buckeyes should win with no trouble, but not enough to cover.

Over 47 Arizona St./Southern Cal

Good play for lots of offensive production.

NFL

49ers +4 1/2 vs Eagles

With no Westbrook and 49ers playing well at home, this could be an upset.

Cardinals +4 1/2 vs Cowboys

Cardinals are developing a nice home field advantage, and the Pokes are their next upset victim.

Under 48 Jaguars/Broncos

Broncos offense has struggled last two weeks, and Jags tough D makes them struggle again.

Post subject:  Re: Pick Winners CFB, NFL Week 6

Saturday
Buffalo Bulls -1 vs. Western Michigan
Like this team and the job Gill is doing there. At home with an extra week.

Sunday
Tampa Bay -1 vs. Carolina
A few points of line value by my count.

49ers +4.5 vs. Eggles
Bloom is off the Philly rose. Skins were blowing holes in the Eggles line. Big day for Frank Gore? A 2-3 team laying FG+ on the road? Give me all of that.

Author:  Coast2Coast [ Sat Oct 11, 2008 1:03 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Pick Winners CFB, NFL Week 6

Buffalo-Western Michigan OVER 53-1/2
Weather is good in Buffalo and both offenses better than the Ds.

Seattle-Green Bay UNDER 44.5
Betting market is building Hasselbeck being out into the line. GB now favored at some shops. But Rodgers hasn't thrown a ball all week either and I make the GB PR 2.5 points lower with Flynn. If this is two second stringers Frye & Flynn leading the teams, get out the taffy.

NFL SUnday from Pinnacle Sports

Panthers +1 vs Buccanneers- I like what I see from the Panthers and the Buccanners are back to Garcia, I will take the Panthers.

Bears -3 vs Falcons- I am starting to like what I see from the Bears, even though the Falcons haven't lost at home and these have been Turner's best games, that was against the Chiefs and Lions, Bears are than both of them.

Packers +1 vs Seahawks As bad as the Seahakws, Pack don't get this one, they may be worse than people think.
