Have you seen Lookinforadventure race? This S.O.B. is the real deal. I've been around some really good two-year-olds and I've seen every great one that's raced in about the past 30 years, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything that combined the speed and maturity this guy has. Maybe not even Niatross or Nihilator.

I saw him a few weeks back take down a sire stake at the Big M. He had an awesome close to beat the horse on the front who got some soft fractions. Looked for the chart today and saw he closed in 26 and 3/5 and ran something like a crazy 55 back half. I don't remember seeing 55's very often.

I think he must have gotten a bye into the Wilson final that goes next Friday. I really believe he's a superhorse but I am a little concerned about how he's done so much so quick. Every horse I ever raced in the early NJ Sire Stakes got pretty beat up. Finally we stopped going in there. There's too much cash on the line later in the year to kill a nice two-year-old in those tough early races. But man, that last race where Pierce's colt wouldn't release him to the front was something else.

Thought I read he wasnt nominated to the Wilson - he's headed north I've heard.

Big Jim went a huge time in the Dream Maker at Mohawk but he had a perfect covered trip following the favorite and closed in about 28 to win it. Great time, but not that impressive of a race.

As for OHmygoshanover, I expect a much rougher trip from the 9 hole against real horse and not NW1. The time was impressive, but as a green horse, he's liable to go 1:55 this week or worse, break.

Have to wait til Monday on the race (non wagering now) due to a power outage at Mohawk last night.

How could they let the result stand in that first division when the lights went out at the 3/4 pole? If I was mid-pack in there I'd be screaming about it.

Not sure other than how do you call no contest in the middle of a race? There has to be a bylaw somewhere.

Back to relevant news, I saw they scratched Lookinforadventure out of the race today. Big Jim won like they were standing still but OMGoshHanover showed up for the race, leaving from the outside, parked out Big Jim to 3/4's and gave way late.

What does a green horse mean, Vince? After five years of working at Balmoral, I still don't know some of the jargon.

If either of you guys ever come out to Balmoral on a weekend (sans this Saturday), yell up to me on the roof camera above the winner's circle. Maybe we could show you the TV studio if you'd like as well.

"Green" means inexperienced or immature. The horse in question, Ohmygosh Hanover broke its maiden in a ridiculously fast time in its first race.

I will come to see you and introduce myself the next time I am at Balmoral for sure. I don't get out there very often any more. Maybe on Super Night.

I'll definitely be there that night. Busy times. Thanks for the "green" explanation. If I can learn at least one horse racing term a day, I might be willing to venture into some more wagering. 8)

WHen is Super Night this year? I might actually be in town for it.

How about a new term for Tuesday? Stiffing.

Super Night is Sat. September 18th.

What's the Tuesday thing mean?

Just a new term for you - you'll hear bettors talk about when a driver stiffs a horse or doesn't give the horse the best chance to win.

So your new harness racing term for today is stiffing

Kinda like Joe Pesci's character's horse in Easy Money?

Addendum: The vast majority of the time when guys yell "stiff!" it's just because the hog they bet wasn't good enough to win.

Or when Dale Hiteman decides to take the second choice, sits him in third and sucks the rail the whole race and get 2nd or 3rd to get his check.

Have you guys ever noticed how Mike Oosting seems to get special treatment? He often is warming up on another horse while the post parade is happening and is late coming out on his horse for the parade.

What's the deal with that? Doesn't quite seem right to me.

I am guessing it's because he has multiple horses in on a given night and you can only warmup a horse before certain races.

Yeah, I don't think there's a problem with that. Sometimes a guy will even have to have someone else parade a horse.

But with racing sliding the way it has in Illinois you see a lot of funny stuff. Horses racing every three days. Uncoupled entries in overnights. Weird conditions designed for specific horses. Anyone who is capable of going anywhere else has pretty much gone already.
