We will Start Week 1 on Sept 5th. Donspiracy will give you 10 games per week to choose from and you can wager on any of the ten that week, up to $50 per game. Games will be Thursday night college game, 5 or 6 Major College Sat Games, Bears games, Sunday and Mon NFL games. You will have a $1000 CSF Bucks Bankroll. Each week standings will be updated and you can post your picks each week. While I love hearing about an edge in the UNLV v Cal Poly games, we are trying to focus on those TV games. Probably a Sweatshirt to the winner. |

This is a highly shitty "compromise" solution to a problem that never existed in the first place. |

Apparently he doesn't want people cluttering the board with useless threads. Seventeen variations on a sentence used in a subject heading, half of which are started by Panther PislA and Jimmypasta, is perfectly OK though. |

That sucks, don's contest was one of my favorite things on the board. This new thing seems like it is going to suck |

Bad move here. One of the things that was fun about the contest was that you could actually bet on the games you are going to watch. I didn't make a single bet on an NFL game because I think I'm more informed about college. It sounds like I'll get to choose between whatever MAC games is on Thursday, Florida vs. Florida International, and the Saturday night game. I don't get what was so bad about the contest before? It's not like the board was slow because of a few threads that at most would reach 2 or 3 pages. It was a great contest and so much other stuff on this board takes up so much more space with little or no content. It's basically ruined now. Irish Boy's contest was good too and had potential if more people started playing. I know it's your board but in the past year the way things have run around here seems to have changed. It's your board, do what you want though. |

donspiracy wrote: Highly Speculative Week 1 Lineup Not blaming you Don, but that list goes to show just how this 10 game limit is incredibly limiting. At least in terms of college, there are at least 5 times as many "tv games" and that's less than 1/3rd of the NFL schedule.Thursday September 9th 1. (22) Auburn @ Mississippi St. 7:30pm 2. Maybe it will get on there a few times this year. Bigfan, please think this through and let things stay as they were last year. The system was perfect. |

The system was far from perfect. As I recall the C2C contest the first year required "a reason or jurko-like thought fragment" for each pick. Coast didn't want players just throwing games at the wall to get the highest win pct. And of course that is exactly what happened when I took over the contest and relaxed the rules to maximize participation. The 2008 season contest had 3200 picks made in it. The 2009 contest still isn't tabulated and I had a pretty good excuse to suspend/drop the contest last season. I enjoy the idea of trying something new and different. The 10 game weekly card for the 17 weeks of the nfl season sounds like fun and the contest will be tighter in competition by far. Players get to make 170 picks max during the season. Players don't have to play all the games each week, but those 10 games are the only ones I'm taking action on for the week. Last years contest only needed 50 picks to qualify for the prize, this year it's going to take a minimum to 86 picks. That's one more than half of the total number of picks made for this contest. I understand completely the emotional(and financial ) investment in the board and the contest. Thanks yous for all your fire and passion and vitriol that you bring here. So everyone please embrace this new and better contest. If you got an edge that the Nevada-Utah St. matchup, go to your guy, cash that winner and tell me about over a cold beer. |

I liked having the option of picking every game. I will likely do the same this year. Every now and then I got in a zone and I could go back to back weeks missing only a game or 2 out of 16. IIRC I won the contest the first year and finished 2nd or 3rd behind Mitch and his 70% run. |

Is there any update on shutting-down the bookmakers in Vegas so as not to take away any action from the Official CSFMB league? |

I will embrace the change to the contest, see what it's like, but I do have a couple questions and they may be answered when you put up the games the first time, but will we have to give reason why we pick a team like before or can we just put the team in. Will it just be the spread number or do we get over-unders too, and if we win, do we get double or money back or does the vig come out, like let's say you put a 10 spot on a team and you win, do you get 20 or 19.09. Thanks for any information. |

I can appreciate the rules of the contest. It tests people on a head to head basis. However, I do want to hear a hot pickers thoughts on Cal Poly v. UNLV as it may provide enough information to buy the sweatshirt myself. I guess we can just have a picks thread for normal, non contest thoughts. |

Thanks for any information. Just put in your post winners. The only number next to the team name in your post is wager amount. Max bet is $50 per game, these are CSF Bucks and Big Fan is the heavy around here, so there is no vig/juice on any game in this contest. The lines will be in the thread with the weekly games in it. We will use a reputable website for the lines, like bodog or dontfademeDAHT CAHMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! (couldn't resist that tip-in) and post them in my thread to make it easier. What happens when a number moves? We'll have to ask BigFan if the spreads are locked in or floating. The thread will be posted on Mon. night or Tues. morning. The first games of the week for this contest will be Thursday night. Most likely open thread early in the week, but lock-in the spreads before the first game on Thursday evening. No O/U, ATS only. You'll just have to wait for the PM I send out of my super-secret underground "Pick Club" contest for any kind of side actions. |
