No big surprise here. Walt No Neck likes to watch men stuff weiners in their mouth.

Joe, I am still stunned that you let yourself get "out-interestinged" by Aggro!

Bob has been around a little longer than I have. And he knows a few more arch-criminals.

Also, many old, well-established places - on the south side, mostly, my buddy that owned a stand tells me - still maintain the cucumber as an additional ingredient to the pickle. Some use it instead of pickle, but, like I said, once the celery salt hits that cuke - BAM! MOUTHQUAKE!

Byron's and Bowser Dog use green peppers and cucumbers. I don't consider those Chicago-style dogs though.

Has anybody had a dog at the actual Nathan's? Is it some overpublicized crap or worth the effort?

It's good, and the experience is pretty cool. You also get the experience of staring at broken down buildings across the street.

Compared to an actual New York style hot dog it's like a 5 star restaurant.

Bad.

I only tried it once and maybe I got a bad one but it's really thin, had no real flavor, and was leathery. This wasn't a street vendor either but supposedly one of the good ones. I did get two of them for cheap and no one punched me for putting ketchup on it but it still wasn't good.

So we still didn't settle what an official Chicago style hot dog is today?
