Jim Dandy is on Saturday, and the Haskell is on Sunday. These 2 races are featuring a few of the horses that we all remember from the Triple Crown races, although I'll Have Another is retired, Union Rags is retired, and Bodemeister is running a fever. Expected to run in the Jim Dandy are Teeth of the Dog, Alpha, Liaison, Prospective, and Atigun. Expected to run in the Haskell are Paynter, Gemologist, Dullahan, My Adonis, and Le Bernardi. In the past few years, the Haskell has been very chalky, so there hasn't been too much money made. The Jim Dandy has been all over the place in the last few years, so the bigger money has been there. I'm probably going to put money on both. Right now, I am liking Paynter in the Haskell and Teeth of the Dog and Alpha for the JD. I'll post the PP's and ML Odds when they come out. |

For the Haskell, there's only 6 horses racing....so I'd definitely lean toward the Jim Dandy. I don't see much money in this race at all. Maybe an Exacta bet on Paynter and Gemologist and Paynter and Dullahan. Haskell Invitational Stakes Monmouth, NJ Race 13 7/29/12 6:17 PM (5:17 CST) PP ......Horse .......M/L Odds 1 .......Nonios ........3.5 2 .......Dullahan……3 3....... Paynter .......1.5 (fav) 4........Gemologist…..3 5......Handsome Mike........15 6……..Stealcase…....8 |

With the Jim Dandy, even if it came out chalky, you could still win hundreds on a $5 bet if you hit on a Tri or SF. I'll keep your Penn Gov Cup in the background to see how it turns out....what are your thoughts on it? |

Muddy track at Saratoga for the Jim Dandy....this race is going to be all over the place.....there is some money to be made, folks. My bets will be: Neck N Neck, Atigun, Liaison, for the tri, with Fast Falcon for the super. |

Even with the sloppy field, this race turned out to be chalky as the top 4 horses placed in order of their odds. That being said, a $2 bet on a Tri gave you around $100, and a $2 bet on a Super netted you around $250, so it was still money to be made on this race, like I said. There's still the Haskell tomorrow gents. |

I hope Dulhallan holds at these odds -- he's definitely a decent play here, especially if he goes off at 4-1. I like the shorter distance -- obviously, I'm still concerned w/ Paynter being able to run away with the thing, but an ideal situation would be Gemologist pushing Paynter and then Dulhallan coming through at the end on top of Paynter and maybe a surprise like Stealcase in third. |

Nice run by Paynter there -- at least I called third place. |

I had a good weekend, but I could have had a great weekend if I would have had Paynter as the winner and Nonios as the runner up. Once again, Dullahan failed to show and was in a majority of my bets. I am officially done with him, I don't care if he only does G2's and G3's from this point, I will always bet against him. Not breaking news, but I didn't realize the importance of those Brisnet PP's until this weekend. Very informative. Next week is the Whitney Handicap, and as many as 12 horses could race, which will be a bigger pot. |

Vince, how did you come out at the Penn Gov's Cup? I'm looking at the results, and payouts were huge. Over $1000 on an Exacta, $6000 on a Tri, and $29,500 on a Super????? Of course, that was aided by a 35-1 horse Kyma winning, and I know I wouldn't have thought to have gone that way. |

The winner would not have figured in the race for me. |

You were quiet for a few days, so I thought you may have hit on that Super. |

I was like that with Medaglia d' Oro.... the only thing is the damn horse would win if I refused to bet him, and then when I would bet him, he was always 2nd or 3rd. Drove me crazy. I had issues betting any race that horse was in because it would screw up all my handicapping -- never knew if I should load up on him or not. |

I was that way with Al Khali for a long time. But he hasn't won in forever it seems. |
