Joey Chestnut is once again pegged as the huge favorite at the sportsbooks to win the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island on the Fourth of July.

Chestnut won the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest for the first time in 2007 with 66 hot dogs eaten, and he managed to repeat that victory in 2008 (59 hot dogs eaten), 2009 (68), 2010 (54), 2011 (62), and 2012 (68).

Tim Janus finished a distant second to Chestnut with 52 hot dogs eaten last year, while Patrick Bertoletti was third with 51 hot dogs eaten. That has Chestnut listed as the big -1000 favorite on the Bovada odds to win the competition again this year, with 'Any Other Eater' set as the +600 underdog.

As well, the OVER/UNDER for total hot dogs eaten by the winner in the 10 minutes of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on the Fourth of July is listed at 63.5 at Bovada , with Chestnut having tied his previous record with 68 hot dogs eaten last year.

Joey Chestnut has claimed the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island on the Fourth of July every year since 2007, and he's the favorite on the odds at the sportsbooks to win the event once again this year.

Chestnut consumed 62 hot dogs in just 10 minutes to win the competition in 2011; that was more than his 2010 mark of 54 hot dogs, but less than his record-setting number of 68 from 2009. Chestnut ate 59 hot dogs in 2008, and 66 back in 2007.

Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti finished second to Chestnut with 53 hot dogs eaten last year, while six-time Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest champion Takeru Kobayashi sat out for the second year in a row with a contract dispute.

For this year, Chestnut is the -800 favorite at Bovada over The Field (+500) to win his sixth straight title at Coney Island, and his OVER/UNDER for total hot dogs eaten sits at 62.5.

Bertoletti has an OVER/UNDER of 53.5 hot dogs eaten for the Fourth of July event, with the OVER/UNDER on the margin of victory for the contest set at 10 hot dogs for this year.

Over in the women's competition, Sonya Thomas has an OVER/UNDER of 40.5 hot dogs eaten at Bovada ; she won the inaugural women's event at Coney Island last year with a mark of 40. Juliet Lee was second with 29.5 hot dogs eaten in 2011.
