Post subject:  Mothers Day at Arlington

Been going for years. It is one of their big days. Sells out months in advance. They are never prepared either. Always a mess.

But Race 1, which I always think they try to make easy with 6 or 7 horses and they want everyone to win to start the day so more food is ordered, money spent, stay longer, etc.

6 Horses in a 6F claimer, becomes a 4 horse race with 2 scratches.

Already hated the 5 horse, so the 2,3, 4 are the only ones left.

NO SHOW WAGERING ON THIS RACE, But they will allow the Trifecta?

The 4 is already a solid favorite.

The odds are terrible. best odds are 2.5-1!

I just went Daily Double 4-1, 4-2 because there is just no money in race 1.

Race 1 ends 4-3-2 and I think everyone in the place hit the trifecta, most of course on a $1 tri box. One of them being my sister and a gaggle of others who came running up with their winning trifectas.

I told my sister, at best she might be getting $8 on her 6$ wager. The lady next me is crying! because she has a $24 Trifecta Box, she is asking if she will need to file a tax form?? LOL

The Payout---->$5.50! So you lost fitty cents on your $1 tribox wager. Never heard the Boos at a track before like that.

Awesome! Watching people at the track is more fun than watching the horses. Too bad there's usually no one at the track these days. In the 80s Roosevelt Raceway and Sportsman's Park were loaded with colorful charcters.

This guy is a throwback. He dresses in white and follows driver Brian Sears around:

We do Arlington every mother's day. Always a good time and yes while online and OTB is fine, for people watching there is nothing like being at the track especially in the summer.

After the last race our normal MO is to hang at Mr. D's for a few West Coast races but skipped it this time. Made it to the car just before it started pouring. Always park in the metra lot. Free, and a short walk to the east entrance.
